Actually.... dont give them ideas. They will make a rhythm game out of it.

Except that was the idea behind Donkey Kong Barrel Blast before it was scraped and made into a Wii game.

I like 64 the most. The tracks were solid, for the most part, and it is the only one to feature my favorite multiplayer stage - Double Decker. But if Mario Kart DS was rereleased on a console, or if Wii start to receive downloadable content, I would have to rethink my position.

I'd say the n64 is my favorite, just because of the time spent playing that one in college. Battle mode was great! That game went hand in hand with pre-bar and sometimes post-bar activities.

I really do enjoy the Wii game though, I like the mixture of the tracks from the previous games and I think the steering remote works very well with the game.

I also feel the 64 version was best, though I'd say that the Blockfort battle level was my favorite. Wasn't a big fan of Donut, but it did have its moments. I spent way too much of my time in that game, and I loved every minute of it.

I haven't played the Wii one yet. Is the steering wheel optional? Can you use the oldschool controller if you want?

Yes, the steering wheel is optional. I don't have the oldschool controller, but I know you can use a gamecube controller or the wii-remote with the numchuck similiar to how you would play zedla or mario.
