anybody anal about their video games?

I'm reminded of 2 different trade ins when I used to work there...
One was a copy of Gothika the movie that I'm almost positive had human feces smeared on the front. Most disgusting thing I've ever seen.
Second (not really relevant) was a copy of Jay and Silent Bob that , instead of Jay and SIlent Bob, had a copy of Pussy Pounders or something equally hilarious titled porn movie.

Unfortunately, not everyone is like us and takes care of things they own, especially discs. And most of Gamestops audience is not "us", its families, or kids, or just people who don't give a shit. So, as a result, sadly, many used things they sell reflect this. At mall stores, there is a big "fake case" problem, because dumbass teenagers that hang out at the mall try to steal things, so they take the cases off the wall, thinking they are going to be getting a free game.
I have a funny story about catching someone in the act, but maybe I'll write it out later...it's probably only funny if you were there

I love the dumbstruck look on their faces when you show them there's no disc in it.

I honestly apologize if I'm being a jerk, but don't get all angry at me just because things are the way they are.

I don't think anyone is attacking you personally. GS has a lot of good employees truth be told. Its just the corporation as a whole that's bathed in bad practices.

I do get anal if its a DC or any game in a cd case if it doesn't have the instructions or case.If its a PS2 game or something thats in a dvd case than its ok if it doesn't have the instructions,but I won't buy it if its not in the original case.I can't stand the GS cases and their is way too many stickers on them,but I do buy from them once in a while.

I get angry at certain things and can be anal about somethings. one thing i cant stand is the stickers! you try to peel them off and they leave behind some of it and you scratch that off but it makes the case bad in that area. if they left the stickers on the white papers and then stuck if under the plastic it would be fine! another thing i cant stand is finding a game and them not having it. whats up with that! if they have the case they should have the game somewhere! of course id also buy a game with a booklet. I wont buy a game if it doesn't have it original case. if the case is cracked I think it over. I always try to get the best looking one of any game with a booklet.

I'm not attacking anybody that works at gamestop. There is alot of good people that work there but the reason why I stopped working there is that the company totally treats thier employees like shit for if it wasn't for the employees and the dedication working 50-60 hrs a week for no pay or benefits the company would go under. I just hate what they have done in the last couple of years no retro stuff, you trade in a game you get 3 dollars in credit and they sell it for ten used, some employees do suck like anywhere else it just hurts the good people that work there but I still hate no case no instructions.

That's the only system I've bought anything for from them in the last year or so.

Ya, I am like that too. Whenever I buy used stuff at Gamestop, I ALWAYS ask to see the discs. There shouldn't EVER be any reason for any employee to refuse, feel offended or get argumentative about it.
In fact, as I look over the game boxes on the racks, my eyes totally ignore any games that dont have original casings, and don't have the manuals in them. If the game is not complete, then they don't have it as far as I am concerned.
Really, I don't think its being anal expecting things like complete games, manuals, and scratchless games. Gamestop makes a killing reselling games over and over. Thats the LEAST they could provide for the customers. The money you are paying them is still just as good, so expectations for a quality product are still there.
I've been after a copy of Baldurs Gate 2 for xbox...tough to find at a reasonable price. Went to a gamestopo with a 20 percent off coupon, plus my edge card, but all i found was a funky looking disc with no original packaging. As much as I wanted the game, I didnt buy it.
As for all those stickers, ya, I hate them too, but for those that dont know, you CAN get around that. Carefully peel off the sticker....some residue will remain, especially on older stickers..then use some Goo Gone. Its a grease, adhesive, and general gunk remover. Put some on a sturdy paper towel (not too much, or you will end up with a slightly oily case), then slowly rub in circles. Ya, a bit time consuming, but when you are done..VOILA! No evidence the thing ever had stickers on it. I usually do them like 2 or 3 at a time when i am watching something on tv.

CodyHunter2000 i coudn't agree with you more. I dont want to get all the rare games just games i know that im going to play. i bought balders gate but i had to get rid of it. i wanted to get a couple of games for the trade but i regreat it today. all im doing now is get the best games for the xbox and its sucks that gamestop is like the way it is because you see a game for 5 bucks then if you went to ebay its like 20 this sucks

I'm guessing because less stickers makes the game look nicer. If it looks close to new why bother spending more money for the new one.

As it has been stated in this thread quite clearly.. Yeah, it drives me crazy as well with the stickers, incomplete games-missing manuals, box art.. using generic cases. I always look at discs before I buy since most people who trade their games in don't take care of the games.. obviously with lots of scratches..
