So I finished Green Hill Zone, and so far I hate this game. The first two bosses are terrible. The level design is awful. The new blue sphere stages are obnoxious. I think I'm going to play Sonic & Knuckles again tonight, a far better game than Mania and STILL the best 2d Sonic game.

I mean no offence, we all have different opinions, and enjoyment of games is very much a subjective thing. But, that being said...

I mean.... you can totally not like the game.... but you can still be totally wrong. I just beat it and the game is spectacular.

Beat it once with the classic Sonic/Tails combo. Only got two chaos emeralds and beat none of the blue sphere levels. That's fine, I've always hated blue sphere. Not a knock on Sonic Mania though and I love the new low poly mini-levels.

Started a Knuckles run which is suffiently different to make several playthroughs worthwhile. Really good stuff all round. I hope this game sells gangbusters, would love to see more classic series given this sort of treatment (Final Fantasy, for example).

Well I just completed Mania. What a gloriously, amazing game. I didn't get all the chaos emeralds, just 3, and I doubt I ever will get all 7, but I can't wait to play through again to try and get them all.

I'm in an interesting spot. I made it up to the last boss and beefed it. But I HATED the Titanic Zone levels so so much that I'm not sure I want to subject myself to them again to beat the game. Which kind of sucks because everything else in this game was a total joy to play.

Well I've finished getting all of the gold medals! So that's everything done.

Helluva game. Gonna have to play it another 2 or 3 hundred times.

I really cannot wait to try this game out. It appears the general Racketboy Consensus is...

Amazing!!

Am I right? I really enjoyed reading everyone's reactions so far. That seems to be a good gauge. What platforms is everyone playing on?

It is amazing, though I hate the last zone. I still recommend it. I'm playing on Switch as I wanted a new portable Sonic.

I just beat it yesterday and absolutely adored the game. I am playing it on the Switch, because of the portability and the ability to play the multiplayer right out of the gate.

Noise, I did not have the same frustrations you did on the final level. In spoilers let me know what trouble you had and maybe I could help you overcome the problems.
