Better late than never, Sega finally revealed two new games being released in celebration of Sonic's 25th Anniversary. I'm getting deja vu here from the 20th anniversary, as one is essentially a 'return to roots' classic 2D adventure (like Sonic 4 was supposed to be) and the other looks like it could be Sonic Generations 2.
I know, I know, the Sonic cycle and all that, but I'm pretty damn excited. Sonic Mania looks immense! It actually looks like a classic Sonic game.

Sonic Mania looks good! The cameos are funny and the new stage - Studiopolis - is great, feels new but does fit with the classics.

Seeing as Chrsitian Whitehead, who made the amazing 2011 port of Sonic CD and before that had been making his own high quality Sonic fan games for years, is involved, Sonic Mania is going to be amazing.
Don't really know quite what to think of the other game. Not actually that interested to be honest. I'm super hyped for Sonic Mania though.

I'm really looking forward to Sonic Mania. From the gamwplay footage, it looks like it will be a proper sequel to Sonic. And I'm so glad Christian Whitehead is working on it, especially because of his fantastic Sonic CD port.
The prospect of Sonic Generations 2 excites me, however, we haven't seen any gameplay footage yet, so I'll reserve judgement for the time being. I really appreciate that SEGA are taking their time releasing this rather than rush-releasing another Sonic game like they have been doing for the last decade or so.
