I've always slept on this series, but over the last year of seeing people on here posting about it, I figured i'd give it a shot. I'm so glad that I did too, I've already paid up for my copy Yakuza Kiwami steelbook edition that comes out in a few weeks. What really gets me about this game is the gripping narrative, i'm usually a gameplay first kind of player, not that there is anything wrong with the gameplay here, but this game's story has me glued to the screen everytime I get to a new cutscene. All the side content makes sure that I don't burn out on the game either.
A quick warning: I'm not sure exactly how Kiwami will handle modifying the original Yakuza 1, but the newer games have far more silliness and diversions than the earlier ones. Yakuza 1 especially takes itself quite seriously, outside of the at times crazy combat, and aside from adding in the "anywhere Majima" thing that I think 0 had, I haven't heard of any extreme changes to Kiwami outside of putting it in the 0-engine.

Glad to see Xeo and I have brought another into the fold of the church of Yakuza though

Saints Row 2 continues to improve on literally almost everything SR1 did wrong. Still no way to abandon an activity in the middle though. That's still pretty fucking bullshit how that STILL isn't in the game.

Yeah I'm totally hooked on this series now. I'm sure Kiwami will have enough content for me, besides the story has got to be top notch.

I will say that I would miss all the crazy side characters and stories.

Majima is the closest I'd say Yakuza 1 or 2 get to the very zany characters (he's sorta the OG zany for the series), and there aren't as many big or silly side-quests in 1, but the story is still top notch. It's a great Yakuza thriller :D

I started Giga Wing on the Sega Dreamcast this evening!

Holy Hell, that is a bullet hell. Also, I like games where my score is equal to two phone numbers put together.

My current top score is 13 digits long. It is absolutely ridiculous and I love everything about it. The game is so crazy, over the top, fast paced and just loads to play. I love that it has infinite continues, but there are still unlockables in the game. Also, the auto-fire feature is super nice.

Like with most bullet hell shooters, sometimes, I get lost in the shuffle and I cannot find where my ship is at. Besides that, I haven't found any flaws.

Agents of Mayhem. I've put about 20 hours or so into it. The game is awful and I think it deserves the poor reviews it's getting. Saints Row 4 was a great game, Agents of Mayhem is garbage.

That's really dissapointing to hear. I didn't think SR4 was THAT amazing on a gameplay level, but I thought the writing was absolutely hilarious. I've heard AoM doesn't even have THAT going for it, so it's sad to hear how truly mediocre it is. Maybe I'll pick it up when it's like 10 bucks or less so I can still say I've beaten every Saints Row game.

Still playing Yakuza 0. I just passed the 70 hour mark, I've got 55% completion on the charts and I just finished Kiryu's business game. The only business I do not own is Mach Bowl, because I can not seem to get a turkey to max out my friendship with Emiri.

The coolest thing right now is having a new style to fight with and how it boosts all my other styles up. This game is seriously awesome. I've spent so much time in its world and I still have a half dozen or so minigames that I haven't tried, I'm only halfway through the gripping drama of the main campaign and combat is still fun and engaging.

Speaking of minigames I haven't tried, how do you gain access to the Asian gambling games? I can access the casino, but it's only poker and roulette and games of that nature.

SEGA is infamous for really only going the barest mile and REALLY dragging their feet on the more "Asian" aspects of Yakuza games. Hence why we take so long to get them in the first place. Shogo and Majhong have been cut out of earlier English localizations, so it isn't entirely impossible that they aren't in Yakuza 0 at all, granted this is just my speculation.

I would hope that they are, they have cp points listed that you can earn by winning so much money in Koi Koi and Cee-lo and a few others that I'm forgetting the names of.

Yakuza edged out Nier Automata so far as my GOTY. My god what an amazing game.
