If you grab an SD Launcher for your gamecube, you can use the 'Game Boy Interface' homebrew software to run games on the system. The quality you get as a result is far better than the official disks emulation quality as it lets you output at 240p and sort out some of the visual quality issues the original software had.

Just a few weeks ago I acquired the means to run Game Boy Interface, so I ran through Ninja Gaiden Shadow and started Mega Man Zero.

Alternatively, if your GCN is chipped you wont need the SD launcher thing. Just burn yourself a disc.

Does it require some hacking and/or added parts to get a SD card into a GC? Seems like more money and work than its worth compared to the GBP which gets overly ripped on when it really isn't deserved.

The SD launcher just plugs into the 2nd memory card port, so doesn;'t require mods. They used to be super cheap, but they seem to be a bit harder to find now, so I wouldn't be surprised if the price goes up. Last I saw they were like £15 though, so not much at all - less than the GB Player disc tends to go for, and it replaces the need for the disc with the benefit of better quality.

Sweet, I kinda wanted to make a thread about Gameboy Interface.

While I agree that the GBP is awesome, the software that came with it was just awful. GBI fixes most of its issues, such as:

480i or 480p output only - Fine for LCD users, but for CRTs 240p is really what you want for these games.

Poor scaling - Creates a blurry image, which is not helped by....

Lousy filters - The official disk gives you options for a few filters, but they don't change the image much if at all. All of them look terrible and blur the image even more.

Bad color - The official just looks washed out and way to bright.

Input lag - GBI doesn't solve this completely but it is MUCH better.

Wrong refresh rate/stuttering - The GBA's screen runs at an odd refresh rate and this causes the software to duplicate frames from time to time to make up for it. GBI runs much closer to the original refresh rate and while the stuttering is still there, it is not near as severe.

Also Datel still sell the SD Media Launcher new, granted you have to have it shipped from the UK, but it is an NTSC version.

Even with the currency conversion and shipping this is cheaper than buying the official disc on ebay.

Also love using the GBP with my controller adapters. GB/GBC games with an NES controller just feel right, and an SNES controller is fantastic for GBA.

The SD Launcher is officially available on two different Code Junkie retail discs and there is a third Disc/Dol file option as well. There are also other SD hardware adapters as well, no mod needed, just plug in and run. Wrote a Guide on this a few years back.

I like the Gameboy Player for the instant plug in of carts. The Emulator option looks great too, for the reviewed improved quality and for anyone who cannot locate the GB Player hardware.

No emulation is happening with GBI. You still require the GBP hardware itself and legit carts. Or flashcarts...

I had forgotten that Action Replay discs have the SD Media Launcher software on them already and only require an SD adapter to access it. Pretty cool stuff.
