I love this game, it such cheese, but it's damn good cheese. Like a baked camembert or something.
LOL

That is a great review.

The only things cheesier than Sakura Wars are my bad puns.

They should be paying me for these.

Yeah the controls definitely take some getting used to. Just make sure to use the diagonals on the d-pad and you should be fine! Glad you are enjoying it as it is one of my most favorite genesis games.
Yeah, I picked that up very quickly. I was just trying to get into a door and my character kept moving up and down, so nothing was happening. I then used the diagonals and the controls got much better. They aren't perfect, but it isn't that much of a hindrance as it was before. It's taking some getting used to, but I like it so far!

Oh Man, you got me excited for that one. I own it on the PS2 and it was one of the last PS2 games I bought. It's also a SRPG and I love those as well.

It's such an interesting combination and I loved the style of it. I am so glad to hear that it is good as I am now excited to getting around to playing it!

Let me paint the picture for you:

A cast of colourful characters who are theatre performers by day (amongst many other things) and military defence force by night (including a teenage mexican bounty hunter with a pet weasel and a lawyer/biker gang member/theatre performer) piloting giant steam-powered mecha robots against japanese style-demons piloting power ranger style robots in alternate universe 1920s new york accompanied by a hot ass swing soundtrack.

Also, despite that, it's mostly a dating sim and a lot of the game puts me in mind of the social links from Persona 4 with added quick time events.

Also, when they launch their ship to fight monsters, they do it using a giant crossbow.

About halfway into Sly 3 HD.

Have to say, this game isn't doing as much for me as the previous two. The platforming suddenly seems far more finicky (with the circle button latching on mechanic). And this is the platformer sequalitis issue where they decide "Simplicity is boring right? So let's make every mission a weird new mini-game with dozens of different control schemes and gimmicks!" and both Bentley and Murray just aren't very fun to play as in this one.

They got rid of the green bottle collectibles. That's a plus. I got the platinum for the first two but I don't think I'll bother with this one. It's already very frustrating at times and I hear the challenges are painful.

The humor, writing, and characters are still great. I'll see it through to the end, but I'm not too impressed overall. I have a hunch it was maybe a B-grade effort from Sucker Punch as they were maybe working on Infamous for the PS3 at time, no idea though.

Hopefully 4 is better? I know that one isn't Sucker Punch though.

Still better than Jak & Daxter though. lol

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow on DS. I am enjoying this. It's easy to sit down and play for 15 minutes and then put down. I don't like it quite as much as Aria of Sorrow, but it's still very good, except for the touch screen stuff. It feels tacked on and isn't particularly fun.

Sly 4 is definitely better. I was disappointed by Sly 3 myself.

As far as Dawn of Sorrow, I like it more than Aria, but I definitely agree the seals can be a little annoying at times. I've played it enough that it's not an issue at this point, though, and the motions required are pretty forgiving as far as accuracy.

Good to hear on Sly. I'll try to knock out 3 today. Going for Ratchet & Clank PS4 next. 8)

I also like Aria quite a bit more than Dawn. Just something about it... Aria was simpler and more fun. I'd put Dawn above Portrait, but Order is by far my favorite one of the DS entries. They finally ditched the stylus gimmicks and the difficulty shot up big time.

Dawn does have much higher quality music. The DS is a vast improvement over the GBA in audio quality. And a lot of the graphical flourishes are nice as well.
