Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
This one has actually been on my list since I listened to the guys over at Cinemasins talk about it on their podcast. They also love the movie Children of Men. It's on my list too.

I haven't seen Children of Men since it came out I think. I remember liking it, but I think I'd like it even more now. Been meaning to rewatch it sometime.

Children of Men is excellent. One of the best movies of the '00s. I highly recommend it.Xeogred wrote:I haven't seen Children of Men since it came out I think. I remember liking it, but I think I'd like it even more now. Been meaning to rewatch it sometime.

Continuing this journey with the heavier slower sci-fi... Contact! Two thumbs up. But Interstellar was like this on steroids x10, heh. Wouldn't be surprised if Contact was an influence though.
I guess Kent was blind, I didn't really notice until the second half. Seems to be based off a Kent Cullers:

I can't remember if you've seen Arrival, but add it to the list if you haven't. And then finish things off with the original Independence Day.

Saw Arrival in theaters and definitely loved it. I should buy it for a rewatch.
I've been thinking about Independence Day since the apparently dreadful Resurgence ... for some reason I'm worried that the original has maybe aged horribly, whether it be the CGI or horrible 90's-isms. Has anyone here seen it recently? lol, I loved it back in the day. But I'm just worried it's best left in the past!
I still want to see Resurgence though, it sounds so damn bad it just has to be confirmed. It at least still has Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman back!

Adapted from the autobiographical graphic novel, the film follows a young girl who comes of age during the Iranian Revolution.
Just as good as its source material.

I am absolutely freaking stoked for Wonder Woman.
I get funny Iria, Bubblegum Crisis, Dirty Pair, etc vibes. This actress they got is incredibly hot to me and looks imposing as fuck. Badass. Hearing nothing but amazing things across many trusted sources and it looks like Amazon DBZ. And you've all seen me express how tired I am of superheroes lately, but this one looks damn good.

Okay, I have a digital copy of Ex Machinima. Just got bumped up my list.
@Xeo, I actually think Independence Day has aged pretty well because it doesn't take itself too serious. People tend to remember The Matrix & Jurassic Park when it comes to ground breaking special effects, but ID4 (yes, I remember the branding
) was also mind blowing at the time. It was the first DVD my family picked up. When you walked into department stores they had it playing that white house explosion over & over to show of the new DVD tech. We watch it every 4th of July in the Jago household
So Stake Land is one of my favorite modern horror movies... the sequel is on Netflix. I think I might check it out tonight. I know I'll be too critical. Anyone seen it?

I've got 5 days off after working tomorrow, maybe I'll check out Independence Day again soon then. I also want to hit up The Martian, hopefully Ridley Scott did alright with that one. And I want to rewatch both Interstellar (with headphones to truly destroy myself!) and then Ex Machina, because I hear it's cool to watch through the lens of different characters with replays and I can easily see that.
I do remember thinking the aliens in Independence Day were really cool, with the weird organic suits. I don't remember any of it being CGI, but I'm not sure.
I remember how that one came out around the same time as Mars Attacks, which is a full blown comedy in comparison haha... never liked it much.
