I am curious as to how well Dolphin will run on my gaming pc. If it runs as well as it does on that guys - the biggest difference is that I am running 32bit xp, well looks like I have even more motivation to rebuild my hotrodse.

Also as for you not thinking that SEGA should have given up then all I have to say is you have no Idea what the Company used to mean to me (and still does to an extent) so don't just go saying that all their ideas were bad ones. Remember mainstream online gaming, HD gaming, high capacity discs for gaming, and analog shoulder buttons all came from the Dreamcast and Saturn.
So they shipped double the amount of hardware units that they actually sold? If that's true, it's definitely a sign of a company that is deeply rooted in reality. I seriously doubt the accuracy of that number though. I think Sega definitely peaked a while ago, but I don't think they were that stupid. Then again, you work in a video game store, and everybody knows that the people who work in video game stores are the ultimate sources of video game information.

The problem with the accomplishments you listed is that the PS2 which launched a year later pretty much either matched them or trumped them all except for the online gaming. The PS2 matched the resolution, featured analog on all the major buttons on the controller and the DVD stomps the storage capacity of the GD-ROM, which actually features the lowest capacity of the three major players in that generation. I will agree that the DC was definitely progressive as far as the Internet capabilities go; there wasn't any serious competition against it until Xbox Live launched. I'm not sure that they pioneered mainstream online gaming; there were more people playing PC games online then there were playing DC games online. Online PC gaming was more mainstream and started much earlier, the DC was just the first console to try to steal some of that market.

I'm sorry that Sega has meant the world to you, and you can't stand people criticizing them. Hell, I used to love Sega in the 16-bit era. That fact just makes some of the blunders they have made even more upsetting to me.
I understand that, and I'm not one of those Sega revivalist types that like to scream about how my beloved box was murdered by rival corporations or a couple of hackers and pirates all I had said originally was that it was a contributing factor to the console's early demise.

As far as gaming companies go Nintendo was and is still the first thing I'll pick up and play, I literally had never heard of Sega until '99 when I saw a Genesis at a new friend's house and freaked over how nice the graphics were compared to my old NES, and Sony rounds it up in third with the PS1&2. Microsoft does get honorable mention for the original Xbox though, and 360 while good I never really became interested in.

Anyway.....in short I was just trying to say that cracking a console so early in it's lifetime doesn't usually lead to good things.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

I was a huge Sega fan during the 16-bit era, which prompted me to get a Saturn as my first 32-bit system. I can't really say that I was extremely disappointed with the Saturn as a whole, because it gave me games like Dragon Force, Shining Force 3, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Astal and other great games. I'm just disappointed that Sega really did their best to doom the system right from the beginning. Sega is the only company I would say that I would have considered myself a fanboy for; now I'm pretty neutral between systems. Last generation I bought them all, and I'll most likely do the same for this generation after the prices continue to drop (only have 360 at this point).

I really just wish Sega would just get their shit together. I wish someone could flip a switch and make them start producing more hit games again. They just seem to be stuck in a phase where they put out a continuous amount of average to slightly below averages games with a good one thrown in every now and then. They have so many great franchises at their disposal, and they just seem unable to capitalize on that.

Jesus, what a train wreck of a thread.

I've just tried the dolphin emulator. Ran Tatsunoko Vs Capcom pretty well. Played a couple of bouts and then it crashed my HD4870. It didn't struggle with the game at all, got a solid 27 fps for the most part. So I played a bit more and it didn't crash, guess this is what happens with early builds. It just seems to run like half the speed it should do. Despite the frame rate which on second play through was upto nearly 50fps. It's really strange.

Crashed my 9600gt on select a character. Others with the same card have it work on similar setups - q6600, 2 gigs of ram, so I am going to chalk it up to early build of the emulator and me not having the time to really work on the issue. Now once this gets full speed, and if it will let me play Kururin Squash...I am getting ahead of myself.

I wish someone would have pointed out ahead of time that only the PAL version of Brawl runs on Dolphin...

I'm running 64bit Vista with a Q6600, 4GB 1066mhz ram on a P5Q-Deluxe with ATi HD4870 GPU.

If that's not a gaming rig I don't know what is.
