I did not want to be playing this 20 hours in a day.The rare times I find a game that does that to me,afterwards I get seriously depressed. So I only want to play this game when I know I won't be seriously addicted to playing it.

Just a heads up - games NOT beaten is more a listing of games you're done playing for good but haven't finished because [insert nice writeup here], not what are you in the middle of so to speak.

The one and only SWORD MASTER.

Screw this game.

Was fun to mess around with for a little bit, but even with save states I don't want to bother finishing off this final level. It's absolutely absurd. Imagine a Castlevania level where you have to fight literally every single boss then a crazy final boss with three forms all in one go with maybe 2-3 health "power up" drops that give you a single damn bar. Basically you probably need to pull a Mega Man 10 Mr. Perfect for this level. Outright evil.

Probably very fulfilling to finish this off and it's super short. So back in the day I'm sure it would have kept me busier and been more enjoyable with all the time in the world to spend on it.

The game looks and sounds gorgeous. So that's why I say give it a look, but the difficulty skyrockets. There was a weird platforming/traps level too that was ass, the platforming is super bad and finicky. Sometimes I even double jump when there's not really a double jump.

Here's a full run:

That final boss music rules.

That truly takes the cake.

Is it legit?

I'm going to try out ... Castle of Dragon.

Yeah, I beat that one back on May 2nd, 2015. This was my HLTB review:
Sword Master is an action platforming game created by Japanese developers Athena and published by Activision in the USA during January of 1992. The player becomes a knight traversing a dangerous countryside to rescue a princess kidnapped by an evil sorcerer. Gameplay combines sword fighting with dangerous pitfall jumping. The swordplay seems influenced by Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, but it isn't as good. The knight can also transform into an utterly useless magician who dies with godspeed at the hands of the many monsters. While the player can become good at sword fighting, the wonky nature of the jump physics guarantees many unfair deaths via pitfalls. Sword Master does have nice background art, a decent soundtrack, and large detailed enemy sprites. Unfortunately a lack of combat polish and truly bad platforming will make you want to snap this sword rather than master it.
I think it was a sequel or it has a sequel. I can't remember.
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

Yeah I totally got the Zelda II vibe, jumping and hitting people in the face there and in SWORD MASTER are essential. I feel good about at least getting good at taking on that silver knight, the boss of stage 2... which quickly became just another normal enemy. One of the 10 minibosses in the last level and all.

It's like a strange merger of Zelda II and Castlevania that looks gorgeous but doesn't play as good. The sword combat was fine, but the platforming sucked and it was just ridiculous how bosses had advanced movesets and you get basically no health power ups at all. Those little bat droppings for a bar or two don't count. The mage as you said seemed completely pointless.

I think it's related to Castle of Dragon... which looks bad, so does Lord of the Sword. lol

I need a course correction.

Might be tapping out on this one today too haha. I always liked the first game on the SNES but know how different they are. Not sure I've ever beaten the Genesis version. I wonder if it's way easier co-op. The bosses are crazy. You have this giant life bar but no matter what you basically die in 5 hits.

Fun little romp but yeah.

Persona 5 is taking up way more of my time than I ever imagined it would. It's a huge improvement from it's predecessors, but geez, I get burned out after an hour or two of playing. At this rate I will finish it by 2020.

I stopped playing Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor - Overclocked because that darn last boss is DESTROYING me with its gazillion phases. I really enjoyed the game and its story, but I feel the gap between my level and the boss challenge is infinitely wide, even though I grinded for about 8 hours prior.

Booted up Dino Crisis 2 for the first time. On my Vita. It is way way different from the original game, but I like it. I miss the tense horror of the first, but I like the addictive dino slaying and arcadey point scoring.

EDIT: Sorry! I just noticed the post specifying that this thread is basically games we have given up on, not games we are in the middle of.

The latest games I simply gave up on are Devil Survivor - Overclocked for the aforementioned reasons, and Final Fantasy Type-0, because of its convoluted systems and overuse of motion blur.

Ran out of continues on Up Town of Final Fight CD.

I'd like to see someone here solo this. It's brutal, obviously being a more faithful adaptation of the arcade original. Way more enemies can gang up on you. And it's ridiculous how you get no i-frames. If you're in the middle of trying to power bomb someone, picking things up, or a combo, it doesn't matter, you get knocked down. Guy doesn't seem very good in this version. I was doing my best with Haggar.
