It is with pride and regret that I start this year's "Walk of Shame" thread.

Mario Sunshine.

F**K this game. It is beautiful and fun with a great sense of humor and setting. Also it has no soul, laughs at my previous Mario experience, and mocks me constantly. After getting about halfway through the game, I have decided that no amount of fun is to be had on levels where I have to blindly jump through space to land on tiny platforms with frictionless controls using analog buttons in order to grab coins that cannot be seen by manipulating the camera in advance.

Nintendo, I love you but I have no idea what you were thinking with this one.

The main 3D Mario I never beat either haha. I'll probably give it another shot if it comes to the Switch digital library.

The first time that I played the game, I felt similar, but now, after beating it earlier in 2015, I learned the absolutely love the game. Sure it takes some getting used to control-wise, but I found the levels to be a blast and the cohesiveness and context of said stages was an added treat.

Honestly I think what bugged me more than the water hose gimmick was the weird town resort setting and hub world. Wasn't it pretty large? Maybe a bit overly complex. I like how streamlined Galaxy 2 was and just gets right to the levels and 3D World pretty much plays like the NES/SNES classics. Keep my Mario simple!

I'll give it another shot myself though.

An even crazier thought, maybe we'll get a new Mario for the Switch this year!

I don't blame you. the game can be frustrating and there is a definite reloading period before trying again.

I feel way better about the fact that Sunshine is the only main series Mario title I haven't beaten (besides the later New SMB games [2,wii u,luigi u, etc] which I just don't have yet)

Super Mario Sunshine is a fine game. (And, to carry over from another thread, so is Donkey Kong Country Returns.) Play it during the summer and enjoy it for what it is.

I didn't enjoy Sunshine as much as others in the series, but I did end up enjoying it. And beating it. I just didn't get all the blue coins.
