Alright, for anyone who's interested, here's my review for the disappointing Resident Evil: Umbrella Corps.

Horizon Zero Dawn
There's literally nothing this game excels at. The stealth mechanics are very poor and the enemy AI for human enemies is idiotic. You can throw a rock at the same location five times and watch some idiot still not walk over there, or fire 10 arrows from tall grass and have NO ONE notice you doing that.
Melee combat consists of one attack and a dodge roll. That's it. It's a complete joke.
As a shooter, it's nothing special either. Aim, shoot, use health items. Meh. And the game isn't consistent either. You can head shot ten guys and kill them, then get to one guy who for some reason just takes partial damage from a head shot. I reloaded 10 times and still this one guy won't die from a head shot for whatever reason (it's not like he has a fucking helmet on his head)
Platforming is your standard, hold your hand and do everything for you platforming that all modern games have now.
I'm trying to find ONE thing this game excels at or ONE thing about it that is innovative and there is literally nothing. It has Indians in it and robot animals, that's literally the only things of note about this mediocre game.
What a shitty game for all the hype it's getting. I guess I should be playing Zelda instead, but I don't have a Switch.

Pretty sure you don't need a Switch to play Zelda...though I'd also venture to say you wouldn't like it anyway.Juan Aguacate wrote: What a shitty game for all the hype it's getting. I guess I should be playing Zelda instead, but I don't have a Switch.
I'd say Horizon's combat is simply built a lot more around fighting machines (and ranged combat). That's where far more of the options come into play, though I can't say I've tried traps/etc on humans. Still, that's where it does things above and beyond games that play similarly. Personally, I haven't had much issue wiping out bandit camps or whatnot like some ginger ninja, but I don't disagree that close combat options are next to none. To me, that just says that it's meant to be a last resort or finishing blow. Some of the reviews did note that you wind up fighting too many human enemies, and that's probably the source of that critique.
Still, if deep melee combat is what you want, Nioh is probably still on the new release shelf, or maybe For Honor if you wanted to do PvP.

I'd argue that many, many retro games are in fact shitty, actuallyBoneSnapDeez wrote:Y'all know what isn't shitty?

What they do not have, however, is hype. That's the nice thing about older games. There's a fairly good consensus about what they do well and what they get wrong, so you have a better idea on if you'll enjoy them or not
