I'm not entirely sure it's a good thing that there are Sly gameplay elements in the Infamous games as one thing I find annoying in Second Son is how Delsin gets pulled towards anything in the environment in mid jump and grabs on it. It's kind of annoying when you're trying to get away from an enemy and Delsin keeps grabbing on to things when you're just trying to jump and get away from whoever is trying to kill you. Imagine you're trying to jump and then run away, and Delsin grabs on to a light pole and is now just sitting there as someone is perforating him with bullets. I find myself yelling at the screen saying, "There are people trying to kill you Delsin! Now's not the time for your stupid, parkour bullshit you idiot!"

But yeah, the Sly influence is definitely there and in some parts of the city you can see very obvious references to the Sly Cooper games. I think Infamous Festival of Blood had a Sly Cooper reference too

Sly 3 is fun. It's mostly the same game as Sly 2, but with more playable characters and a fun chapter that plays like an homage to Sid Meier's Pirates! and Secret of Monkey Island.

Sly 4 mostly follows the same template as the last two games, as I'm sure they didn't want to piss off fans who would lash out at any major changes made by a new developer, but it has some of the most memorable moments in the whole series that are brilliant things that I don't even think Sucker Punch would have thought of

And it's the only Sly game to have DLC, which is pretty fun too (except for those damn rolling ball mini games)

Bentley's hack pack is basically a bunch of arcade mini-games that you only get to enjoy briefly in the main game.

There was going to be a Sly movie, but the Ratchet and Clank movie got so much hate that I don't think the Sly movie will ever see the light of day

I haven't played Second Son yet (though I do own it, so maybe that'll change soon), but I absolutely adore all of the PS3 Infamous games. As such, that's why I said comparing Sly 2 (and apparently 3 and 4) to Infamous sat very well with me. Infamous 2 was so gooood ;_;

I haven't really played Infamous 2 beyond that tutorial boss fight, which I thought was pretty epic

I played Festival of Blood though, and that was a lot of fun

Cole and Zeke seem a lot cooler than the cast of characters in Infamous Second Son in my opinion

@PartridgeSenpai: Yeah dude, check out the Sly trilogy HD collection. Basically what Juan was kind of getting at... but I actually like how both the Sly and Infamous games control. Especially for Infamous' open world city design, it felt really slick and easy to navigate, the climbing and jumping felt great to me. It almost feels like Infamous is built off the Sly engine (maybe it is in some ways? haha), because the jumping and platforming feels similar to me. So if you like that about Infamous you might feel right at home with Sly's platforming. I was really impressed playing it for the first time with the PS3 remasters a few years back. And while I thought Ratchet & Clank 1 was pretty rough, Sly 1 was awesome from the start.

Sly also has the same kind of dark, urban city vibes going, the comic strip sketches for some cutscenes, and great writing. It feels fairly All Dogs Go to Heaven or along the lines of that, darker animated classics and such. Which sat really well with me.

Yep, anyone who likes Sly needs to hit up Infamous and vice versa!

I still need to play Second Son myself.

Mother Russia Bleeds

As a beat 'em up enthusiast I can say that this falls far behind many of the other beat 'em up revivals we've seen in recent years. Frankly, it's one of the worst beat 'em ups I've ever played. Very disappointing.

Same! That's been on my list of Steam wantings for quite a while because I'd heard like only good things!

1. Test Drive 4(PS)

I am usually very forgiving when it comes to racing games, but holy hell is this game awful!

The cars control like utter garbage. Starting the race, you almost always spin out for several seconds. You touch anything and you go careening off the road. The cars don't feel like they touch the ground as they just float there. Oncoming traffic goes straight for you. Cops only attack you, not your opponents.

This game is bad. Very bad.

It's been a while since I hated a game so much that I chose not to finish it. However, that has now changed.

Mirror's Edge

Mirrors Edge is a game I wanted to love. The premise was cool, it had a ton of style and I went in expecting a decent, if perhaps slightly flawed game.

What I got was a mess of a game which did everything in it's power to make me hate it.

Lets start with the controls. Jump is L1 by default. You jump all the damn time. It never feels comfortable or natural to hit the L1 button to jump. The other major actions are set to the shoulder buttons too - ducking is L2, quick turning is R1 and punching is R2. They all serve multiple functions too - R2 opens doors, L2 lets you slide and crouch upon landing to take the impact, L1 lets you wallrun and wallclimb. Because of these multiple actions, especially the ones set to L1, you'll flub what you're trying to do a lot. So many times I intended to wallrun ended up with me jumping to my death instead.

The game has forced combat sections too. They never feel fun. You can take an enemies weapon and insta-kill him by pressing triangle at the right time, but it's so quick and your camera view is so awkward you'll fail it more often than not. I found it easier just punching them in the face. Shooting with a gun you've stolen is rubbish and controls badly, but is way mroe effective than trying to do the stuff the game is centred around - running and taking out enemies quickly.

Signposting is an issue too. The game tends to work in 2 ways - either it's signposting where you need to go to keep you moving (which is when the gameplay actually works imo) or it's decided to make the next highlighted object be a tiny pole on a wall 7 miles away and leaves you with no fucking diea where to go. Without fail, this always happens when enemies are nearby, leaving you to respawn and take a shotgun blast to the face about a hundred times until you figure which blind leap of faith it wants you to jump from to get away.

It also suffers from inane chatter too. The levels are clearly colour coded - I didn't pick up what they all mean but generally - red = go this way, orange = this place is safe and blue = you're going to get shot at by the police. Without fail, someone would pop up on the radio and say 'blues up ahead faith'. No shit Sherlock, EVERYTHING HAS BEEN BLUE FOR THE LAST 200 YARDS.

One section of the game that drove me mad has you riding on 2 trains and dodging obstacles. The game tells you to jump to the other train, but the obstacles are random and half the time I jumped into a pole or pillar and died, and was sent way back in the level to boot. Fuck that for a lark.

The final nail in the coffin for me was the freezing issues. Several times through my journey through the first half of the game I had issues with the game locking up, requiring me to turn off my PS3 and restart to play again. In stage 6 however, I encountered a lock up 5 times in the same room about 5 minutes into the level. I assumed my disc must be damaged (it's second hand) but nope, a quick google search shows dozens of people having the same issue. I tried all of the recommended ways to proceed recommended in those threads, but the issue persisted. I'm done.

Mirror's Edge is a pretty but poorly designed and glitchy pile of crap. Avoid it.
