People talk about 2007 and other years

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

In 2007 I was doing my last semester of college, completely ready to get it over with and giving just enough of a fuck to pass my classes. I already had my job with Amazon locked up so all I needed was to graduate. The Burning Crusade had just came out for WoW and I was furiously leveling, trying to see if I could beat my guildmates to the new level cap. Then I moved out to Seattle and discovered that the apartment I was moving into (taking over one of the roommate's leases) had absolute shit internet. It was fast but dropped packets like crazy. So I couldn't raid in WoW (I was a liability) and I discovered X3: Reunion and played the shit out of that. I also bought and beat Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, which was overall pretty fun. But the majority of my time was X3; there were enough different ways to explore that space sandbox and eventually I managed to work my way up to a fully kitted out Destroyer and would just do slow patrols in Xenon sectors blowing them to kingdom come. Near the end of the year I moved into my own apartment with good internet, but my WoW guild had disintegrated in the meantime and I shifted focus to building up a collection of consoles and games I missed out on growing up.

It was actually a pretty good year for movies. Some of the best 2007 movies I have seen:

Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Atonement
Death Proof
Hot Fuzz
Hot Rod
The King of Kong
Michael Clayton
No Country for Old Men
The Orphanage
Ratatouille
Sweeney Todd
There Will Be Blood

(I absolutely adore Hot Rod, BTW. It is such a guilty pleasure, and I have probably seen it more than any other movie on that list. Moreover, the 30-45 minutes of deleted scenes in the DVD are at least as funny as the rest of the film.)

I still need to see:

Gone Baby Gone
The Mist
Zodiac

...but I have read that they are very good.

...

On topic...Super Mario Galaxy is the best game released in 2007, hands down. It is also the best 3D platformer ever made, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Contra 4, God of War II, Metroid Prime 3, Portal, Puzzle Quest, and Zack & Wiki are also very, very solid. I still need to play through Bioshock, COD:MW, Crysis, and Mass Effect, but I have read that they are all very good.

I know it had some good films, I was over playing it for dramatic effect. Then again I spent last night watching 1976s Grizzly and 1944s Curse of the Cat People (A sequel to a move about cat people, minus the cat people).

In 2007, I was halfway through my freshman year of high school and already winning fencing tournaments.

if that's what you're after then The Canyons is the movie for you. Though I Know Who Killed Me is the better film.

Eh, she'd already hit the wall by the time The Canyons came out. And I'm more likely to enjoy a serial killer flick than soap opera drama with a porno backdrop.

she actually looks quite good in The Canyons. Biased, I know. But the movie is absolutely pointless and boring.

I genuinely love I Know Who Killed Me.

2007 was an interesting year for me since I did not have a game group, board or video, and was transitioning from a 24 hour job (Event Planning) to a 9-6 (Telecom Operations). So my life was stabilizing, but most of my friends and family were not around. There was finally time, but no one to spend it with. I did join headstaff for a small convention, joined this site, got a Wii, and played alot of Saturn games though.

Ack was still in my old game group so we would play games randomly at lan parties or meetups, but I mostly went console gaming since I lived in a place with only dialup for the majority of the year. I did buy and beat the Orange Box, Mario Galaxy, and Pokémon Diamond. When I had highspeed I was big into Auto Assault (an 06 release), Goldeneye Source (HL2 Mod), Source Forts (05 HL2 Mod), UT2k4, and tried to play both Tabular Rosa and Hellgate London but never went past my first month.
