At least in some cases, that's actually a platform holder thing, and comes down to a difference in policy or decision between regional divisions (like SCEA versus SCEE).

So if you bought an ice cream cone, took a big bite only to find a frozen cockroach in it, you wouldn't be mad at the ice cream vendor, because you like ice cream?

I really hate this so much. Still ticked at Nintendo for doing a digital only release of Fatal Frame 5, especially since it's a large game on a region locked system :|

As for something else I really hate, I hate cutscenes that I can easily accidentally skip. Sometimes I would just set down the controller and accidentally press one of the back buttons and then BOOM skipped cutscene. Much prefer having to hold a button for a bit or having a confirmation or something :|

I don't think video games are cockroaches nor anyone deserves to be punched in the face/crotch for making them. If I got burned it was on me for trusting the ice cream store for looking like a complete shit hole to begin with.

Whoever made Chasing Dead deserves to be punched straight in the dick for the Wii U release of that game.

Let me explain it more clearly for you; the cockroach was metaphoric for bad taste within an otherwise normal looking ice cream cone, allowed to be there by a willfully careless ice cream vendor. That's symbolic of a video game developer (vendor) who puts bad game design (cockroach) into an otherwise decent video game (ice cream).

This thread is not about literally wanting to punch devs in the face or crotch. It's about pointing out common stupid video game design decisions that continue to be perpetuated because of lackadaisical consumers.

I'll show you how it works:

I'd like to "punch" Yu Suzuki in his "face" for making quick time events a thing. I'd like to "punch" derivative developers "in the crotch" for perpetuating the QTE concept all the way into the present day.

If the thread concept doesn't interest you, please spare us anymore drive by high 'n' mighty posts about how you love all video games, and hurting people is bad if you mean it for real. It's cool if you feel that way, but it's disingenuous to the thread.

Oh spare me your high 'n' mighty post about how I am high 'n' mighty. It was a harmless comment and I did not mean to insinuate anything negative about your precious thread!

On the thread's behalf; it didn't mean to negatively insinuate harm towards your precious sense of morality either.

I do not appreciate when developers suddenly stop putting checkpoints in missions, or start to drastically reduce the frequency of them. If you set a checkpoint pace, you should keep up that pace to the end. If you're looking to increase difficulty, do so via more challenging level design, harder enemies, trickier puzzles, etc. But don't suddenly take away checkpoint frequency, and therefore make wasting more of my time be the increased punishment. This sucked in the 80s and 90s, no reason for it today.

I loathe when developers put multiple boss battles in a row, and by the time you reach the final boss, and die, you have to re-fight all the previous bosses again. I'm not talking about a boss rush, I'm talking about unique bosses. Hey guess what, I already beat those bosses, how about letting me just start off fighting the boss that killed me instead?

And let me hear you say ARRGHGLLFFF!! if you really, really hate boss battles that you're supposed to lose to by design... but the developers make you think you have a chance to win, so you waste a bunch of resources and time, instead of just having the boss smack you down instantly. ARRGHGLLFFF!! that's the sound those developers' faces make when I crotch punch fu them for that shit.

Huge open worlds... with nothing to do, and you have to cross them on foot. (Bethesda...)

Glitches that were known BEFORE patching is "finished" for that game not being fixed. (I found more than I like to admit in DE:HR and some others)

As mentioned, physical some places but not others.

Difficulty just making enemies have more health, rather than any of the other multitude of options to increase the difficulty.

I'm simply sick of games being released unfinished because they can just patch things later. I really feel like this wasn't prevalent until the advent of consistent internet access to consoles, and following in the mold of how the PC market has been.

Quit being lazy and giving us unfinished shit.
