I ended at 90% with 9 E-Tanks, 230 Missiles, 20 Supers, 12 Power Bombs. So I'm sure it's actually 10 E-Tanks and at least 250 Missiles, so that's 5 expansions covered. Getting Power Bombs up to 20 is 4 expansions, so I'm guessing it's 255 Missiles, which is a psychologically satisfying number for NES kids.

Yes, that's why I always consider 255.

9 E-Tanks, 230 Missiles, 14 Super, 14 Power Bombs for me.

I just can't get over how amazing this was.

This is exactly what I wish modhacks of Metroid/Super and the old Zelda games were like too. Granted this had a solid blueprint for the groundwork, but still, it was amazingly fun and so balanced with a good challenge. All the random romhacks I've tried over the years often look appealing, but it seems like everybody wants to design the craziest walljumping required levels ever and make the difficulty downright impossible. Not fun.

But this was clearly far more than a rom hack. It totally has its own identity and was freaking amazing in every department. Federation Forces, eat your damn heart out.

It's basically Metroid Zero Mission II giving it an honorable obvious name of sorts given what is there, what was there, the additions and total context of it. One would think if Nintendo made a PC game for the franchise one could be convinced they made this if you didn't see the website or copyright screen. That about it?

So it looks like the download links disappeared from the main site. Searched around and they indeed were served with a DMCA take down.

Do you suppose the creator will do a Freedom Planet, where they keep the gameplay but reskin it so they can actually sell it? Would that violate the DMCA? I don't know enough about the technicalities of that stuff.

Some of those links never finalized, but a few work.

I've got the file on my own backup now though. If anybody can't find it, let me know, I'll hook you up.

If you're into torrent distribution, it's available in that format:

I highly doubt it. This was intentionally Metroid in every way, especially during the end game credits. Whether Nintendo appreciates it or not...

Absolutely stunning. I only test drove it for like 15min or so, killed 1 metroid, found the charge beam and bomb, a few missiles and that first e-tank. He got creative alright, not sure what that one chozo near the charge beam does that looks like a bomb/charge pot. Was playing it on keyboard, it's rough that way but not bad as I'm used to dicking with old SNES/NES/GB games on emulators+keys and it's mapped very similarly.

It is odd though, I'm surprised it still plays in a square, you'd think it would have filled out to a modern screen, but not a biggie. I know others said it, but yeah I see it now, dude needs a paycheck from Nintendo to port that to their own hardware like now. It has a quality onto its own that rivals Zero Mission in staying the same and not at the same time. I did grab that map off imgur as I really never have cared about speed running or the insane 100% stuff in metroid games, but I also don't like to miss more vital stuff. I just like to explore, same with the others of the style that ripped off Nintendo like SOTN and friends.
