Nobody's going to argue that E3 hasn't fallen from prominence. The industry has simply outgrown the need for it. I'm very much fine with it as well.

So after that gameplay demo I'm no longer interested in Final Fantasy XV. XII and XIII were interesting changes on the old turn-based style, but XV is just full on KH, and I don't want that.

Anyone else sorta disappointed in FF15's demo? Tons of dodging and QTE after QTE? They went through the same QTE animation twice during the 4 minute demo :P

EDIT:
Minecraft demo's dialog is cringe worthy

Did you guys see the World of Final Fantasy trailer posted a few days ago? That looks pretty awesome and old school in design.

Eh, it's similar to what other big RPGs seem to be using though, from the Xeno games to Dragon Age.

I'm not interested in XV due to the cast and story that I've seen.

Seems to be a lot more of a spinoff collectathon thing. Not sure.

Kind of expecting to see Nexon's FFXI remake show up at E3, but obviously not at MS's show

I'm not opposed to action RPGs. I just don't want Final Fantasy to be one.

So the main highlight for me was the Xbox Anywhere initiative. I am seriously considering switching ReCore from Xbox One disc to full digital and then play it on my PC. Most of the other games were franchises I'm not interested in (Gears, Forza). But the fact that Microsoft is putting money behind the notion is a good thing; it's the next step in delivering on those promises over the past few years to stop ignoring PC gaming.

Final Fantasy XV got me to cancel my many year preorder because it's not what I want in a Final Fantasy game at all. So I guess the system works.

From a series like Final Fantasy, it bothers me less when they try to reinvent the wheel. After the pretty terrible reception of the FFXIII games, I'm not against them trying something else... even if I agree that it'd be better if they brought back the ATB system and tried something like the games of yesteryear.

Now, you start messing with Dragon Quest, and I get unhappy. ;) When they floated the idea of turning Dragon Quest IX into a cooperative ARPG, I was not very happy. As a series, it's far more stable in style and mechanics, so fans tend to have a certain set of expectations. (I still probably would have bought it, though.)

the Xbox presser was mostly a snooze fest. I am up playing for Horizon 3 and maybe that Kamiya game. Most of the rest was a bore.

Like I mentioned in another thread though, I think Final Fantasy has become their brand for trying to innovate and/or trying to build something in line with the state of the genre/industry. The big, successful RPGs these days are largely the ARPGs with AI controlled party members and so on. So, seeing them build something like that in XV is kind of expected.

Others, like Dragon Quest, have largely been more conservative in approach. So yeah, FF I kind of assume they'll do something new, which I can respect even if I don't love every bit of it.

MS version of Cross-buy could be interesting though. Or could fall flat, like Games for Windows Live.
