Yep, nothing says you have to stay in the same genre, so I'll totally give it to both LttP and FFVI. The latter is almost there with Chrono for me. I beat it countless times. Yoshi's Island would be another valid answer. ;)

My opinions of Phantasy Star have been made pretty clear, it's just a little too uneven for me to put it up there with the best. I feel like it's much like Dragon Warrior; a historically important game that I'll likely never play through again.

Hrm... never played the Onechanbara games, so someone else will have to tackle that.

I can't compare them, but I will go with a brilliant game all its own.

I called it a designed rogue-like. It's sort of an action-RPG, sort of not, but it's deviously designed, and outside of a few not-fun parts, was a great experience.

And the next game in our little soiree...

A cover-based slasher? Seriously? Somehow, it works, and it's immaculately paced. Barring some technical quibbles, it was easily my favorite of the Operation Rainfall games.

EDIT: Bah, ninja'd!

I feel like this is a bit of a cop-out comparison, but they're both such AMAZING late-life Wii exclusive RPGs.

Let's see some comparisons for this masterpiece.

I know nothing about that game, but the cover art sure reminds me of this:

Lets reuse my one from earlier that never got a response:

You should check it out, man. Download a 32x emulator if nothing else. In terms of gameplay, it's just another Mortal Kombat clone from the early 90s, but it's got so much style and personality that you can't help but love it.

Yeah, 32X is one of the few consoles I have literally no experience with. Never seen one, played one or even tried any of it's games, even on another system.

One day I'll be stupid enough to fork out for the 32X and Knuckle's Chaotix.

If you're ever on this side of the pond, hit me up; I'll put you up and we can play some 32x.

The game itself actually reminds me a bit of Cyborg Justice.

Hrm, Ghost Trick. Fantastic game there. I almost feel like one needs to stick to adventure for a proper comparison with it... how about this one?

Full Throttle might be LucasArts at the peak of their powers. Good, good stuff.

To keep up the adventuring theme...

A game with a very troubled development history, but I thought it turned out pretty well. It also had a pretty good tie-in book by Alan Dean Foster.
