First: I'm becoming more and more of a jerk. I mean, sure, I've been sick a week and a half now, so that doesn't help, but I tend to heckle a lot on the threads about newer games. I also give the little nitwits who won't capitalize, use punctuation, and otherwise separate their thoughts into distinct sentences hell. I guess that last bit isn't new... If this is a problem, let me know. Otherwise, do encourage me, especially if you find it amusing. Or something. This could be the fever typing.

Second: What's with all this new console crap? Aren't any of your people poor or something? I have so many older games that I haven't finished or beaten. I'm certainly not going to refuse to play something new (I did actually sit down to play and beat Halo within the first couple years it was out) but I don't have those new systems and I can't justify the expense. No, I'm not complaining that you all are chatting about it. That's allowed, encouraged even. But there have to be some other penny pinchers out there who are perfectly happy with old shit.

And yes, I risk becoming one of those old curmudgeons at the mall. In my day, we had to hit buttons on the control pad, and hit them quickly! None of that waggling or mind-control crap! You spoiled young-uns! What do you know about FUN?

Agreed, I am the same way. Actually, I got my first gamecube less than a year ago, when i noticed that they were 29.99 at gamestop. And I have been picking up the best games for the system by watching pawn shops and flea markets. As a matter of fact, I just picked up Ocarina of Time Master Quest, and Smash Bros. Melee for 9.95 each.

My point is, I am perfectly happy enjoying games a generation later at a fraction of the cost!

I've been a firm believer in saying a generation behind since the PSX. My rationale is very simple. You get the best hardware revision for the cheapest. You get all the games for the cheapest, and you never get stuck buying a new game that turns out to not be any good. I don't get how or why so many people insist on buying consoles when their new (especially on release day) when your getting screwed over so bad for it.
As for heckling people for bad spelling, idiocy, etc. Keep it up, I get a kick out of that stuff.

This is a fragment, too.
By what definition is that a sentence fragment? It has a subject (that) and a verb (is, shortened to 's). The phrasing might be a little awkward with "encouraged even," since it might be better stated, "That's allowed, even encouraged." However, I see nothing that makes that sentence a fragment.
Consoles: NES, SNES, DC, PS2, PSP, PS3, 3DS, PS4.

I've only recently stopped buying current-gen games. Sure I have a Wii and a 360, but I find myself using them less and less and enjoying my older systems more.

I have gone crazy buying games and systems over the past year and the number of unplayed or unbeaten games I have is insane. I am in agreement with a few others that say collecting and finding the games is almost more fun than playing the games themselves.

The one thing I need to stop doing is buying games because I think it's a good deal and thinking I can re-sell it. I almost always pass on a game I should get, then regret it, and the next time I have that feeling like "I should buy this" I buy the game and it turns out to be a stinker.

I don't know that I've gotten all curmudgeony (I know, not a word) yet, but I'm sure I'm on my way.
Systems: Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Genesis 3, Genesis 2, 32X, Sega CD (model 2), Saturn (model 1), Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox (Modded), Xbox 360, GameBoy, GBA SP, Game Gear, PSP... always adding more

Ive started drifting to the exact opposite of that. As I play my friends 360's and Wii's and even my own PS3 (which is being shipped out the door to somebody who will probably enjoy it more, im getting a 360 again as many of my friends have one and I wish to play online with them.) But the more I play new games Ive kinda started drifting away from the old. All the old games that really interested me have been played through a number of times and since im 15, and have no real nostalgia for anything pre-Dreamcast, I find them to be alot less playable and enjoyable compared to somebody that grew up with a NES. Which is why, im pretty much getting rid of everything except the Saturn, Dreamcast, and 360. Its kinda sad but its just something I realized over the past couple weeks and this post drove me to just point that out.

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo.

It's a complete sentence.

I can't afford to pay full price on these latest games, though I do realize that I can afford to wait. Eventually a new generation of console technology will appear, the current will fall out of favor, and I will be able to find these games for under ten dollars. Now I just need to mark which ones I'm looking for.

I'm perfectly happy with all my "old-shit" ... and I spend a good deal of time playing my older games, but I also like keeping up-to-date on what's going on right now. Having knowledge and experience of the old and the new help to make me appreciate both more, and the new wouldn't be where it's at without the old. I'm lucky that my budget can handle it for the time being, and I think that is a big factor in shaping one's world-view of gaming.

It's interesting to see some people say they have more fun finding the deals / collecting than playing. For me, I'm both - I love the thrill of the hunt, but I'm also a gamer and I'll always want to play games, new or old. :)

It's always good to make constructive criticism where ever necessary. I think blatant laziness in spelling and punctuation should be called out. I'm more old-school on that front. Heck I hate using spell-checkers.

Because "even" is placed at the end of the sentence, the last half of the sentence is unfinished and thus grammatically incorrect. This makes the whole sentence a fragment.

I know it is not 100% accurate, but you can double check in MS Word:

That’s allowed, even encouraged. - OK
That’s allowed, encouraged even. - not OK

I've got a 360 and a wii. I barely play either. I find myself tracking the games that come out and then never buying any. Right now I'm waiting for Bionic Commando, Mad world, and klonoa. But I'll probably buy one at the most and maybe pick up the others in 3 years when they're $15.

Why pay $50 or $60 for a brand new game that I probably won't finish when I can pay $5-$20 for an older game that I'll probably spend more time with and gives me that collectible feel (I never get that feeling with current gen or even ps2 or gamecube games)
