I really hate to do this to you, but he's actually originally called 'Mathis' in the Japanese games. (He's also a terrible parody of a foreigner.)

Fun fact: Prof. Oak's original character name was 'Professor Orchid.'

There's a hardly used XBR960 like 20 miles away I'm trying to pick up and I can't get anybody to help me lift it into the house or the truck. I could probably get it from the truck inside but lifting it up into that thing would be an ordeal.

I don't need one but it was by far my favorite TV I've ever used and IT'S FREE.

Of course who knows how long it has till the power supply decides to shit itself. Knowing my luck, it'll be like the DynaFlat HDCRT I got a few years ago and crap out the next day. :?

Do Japanese people take better care of their stuff? Or are us Americans just the opposite? Or maybe both?

I've been astounded to see so many CiB Japanese games available at such a low price... PS1, Saturn, Dreamcast stuff. While it's difficult to even find anything in the US that isn't "disc only," and when you do, it's become a rare collector's item. At this point, unless it's an RPG or a text heavy game, I'd just as soon buy the JPN version of an older game. nevermind the fact that I live in Japan, that's beside the point

Seriously though guys... Marvel vs Capcom 2, Cib, for Dreamcast. $7. I love it.
I review (mostly old) games at: The Annals of Retrodom.

Loose disc blow my mind.... what do people do with all of there manuals and cases?

I posted this in the Retron 5 forum. I got a 8BITDO SNES30 bluetooth controller and it works great with it. Looks and feels like a Snes controller. A little heavier but otherwise you would not know you were holding a non Nintendo controller!

My Japanese colleague/teacher was appalled to see what used games in America looked like.

Recycling has been emphasized much more in Japan, and for a much longer time, than in the US. It manifests itself in a lot of second-hand stores, but there's really no shortage of old games in ratty condition in Japan, any more than there is in the US. Certain stores are more particular about the condition of the used items they take in because they serve a clientele that's also a bit particular. I've noticed in the last few years, though, that more and more online sellers from Japan are happy to sell games in worse and worse condition for top dollar; usually to international buyers.

I believe there's a reason for that: If I'm not mistaken, the Japanese arcade and DC releases of MvC2 each have extra characters that are exclusive to one version or the other. Unless you have an arcade with MvC2, and the VMU interface, nearby, you're roster may be a bit limited compared to the US/PAL versions.

All last week I'd sell off some games in order to get an everdrives from nightmare and jmbarnes101. Well I got most of the money but there is a major problem
My wife asked me to use the money towards the house. I told her that all the work was for the two everdrives but she had promised I'll get them as soon as we get our taxes done. I love video games but to keep us afloat on finances the house comes first. It just sucks that's all. At this point I might as well have started a kick start program or accepted a donation fund lol. Kidding but it's going to take a little longer and I'm sorry about it all Jmbarnes and nightmare

My random gaming thought for today:

New fatherhood (baby is 12 days old) has reduced my gaming to handheld-only at this point since I can hold her and the 3DS at the same time.

On the plus side, I like the 3DS a lot and she's getting some good, early indoctrination!
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

Want: Games!!!

That sounds about right. I blew through some DS games after my daughter was born in 2009, and I crushed some 3DS games after my son was born in 2011.

IMO, if you get a modded PSP and an iPad, you will be set!
