Smile: Last night's Darkest Dungeon stream was ridiculous (warning: lots of NSFW language). I TPK'd against a Shambler I summoned, then fought another one later in the stream, almost TPK'd, then decided against my better judgment to try and finish the quest.

It. Was. Epic.

Smile: I'm also very excited about having coffee with the Director of the Harvard Innovation lab tomorrow about my site: a friend-making website for introverts. Yay business contacts!

Frown: It's been a real long week. Definitely ready for sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

:D : But everything seems to be going smoothly so far, which means in six short months (or so) my implants will be complete. I've been waiting since I was 12 for this year to come and finally it has *crosses fingers*
If you don't mind my asking, what kind of implants?
They're titanium implants within the jaw where the two top teeth just left and right of center would be.

So, right about here:
Teeth1.jpg
The teeth just never formed, so I've been wearing a partial since they fell out. I also had a small bone graft since the jawbone had receded due to the lack of teeth, but that was only minimal. So, basically, there are two rods of metal wedged up in my jawbone and I have to eat soft foods for a week or so and wait while the grafted bone fuses to my existing bone, which should take a few months.

This is basically what's happening-
AAID_Fig1_color.jpg
-except right now there's no tooth and no post to put the tooth on, just the metal rod.

The whole thing is about a year-long process, which I'm not really looking forward to, what with all the follow-up visits and all :? But the good news is, the doctor was very pleased with how easy the surgery went and he didn't have to do as much as he thought he would (thus giving us a $900 comp on the bill. Yay!)

With any luck, the whole process will be done before next Christmas, thus giving me an opportunity to sing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" with enough joy to profoundly confuse passing strangers :D
I'm going through all this too, although I also need a bone graft to my jaw before I can get the titanium screw placed.

:P : Today was a real nightmare. Summation 5/7 mail routes weren't able to complete their full routes today including myself, I wasted $100 on cables/chains for my tires that I wasted an hour putting on only to have them crap out before I could even got into the post office, and I had a pleasant burial in a ditch while delivering mail as well :P.

Full story.
So today starts off with me waking up at 5am to get everything ready so I can go in at 7:30. So I get out side to the car and... the door is completely frozen on both sides left them unlocked last night just in case but still no dice. So I end up having to crawl through the back to get it on and defrosting. So then I'm stuck waiting 30 minutes before I can get in and start the process of putting on the chains and cables that I got the other day for the tires. Putting those on took forever because the instructions sucked ass.

So I get on the road only to be greated by the sound of the chains on my back tires beating the living shit out of my wheel well so I pull over up the road and end up having to take those off. Then I go about another half mile when I hear a loud racket by the front tires. Turns out the latch system which keeps them on and tight is worthless so it's coming undone randomly. So I end up having to pull over on a hill to take those off as well. Great waste of $100 on another set of shoddy products from Walmart.

So after getting the cable chains off the front tires I end up stuck for about 5 minutes since the snow is about up to my knees. I managed to get myself free luckily but I didn't get into work till 8:30 a whole hour later then I meant to.

So after all that I get in to work get all the mail sorted and hit the road. However the roads are complete shit and most haven't been scrapped. So pretty much I'm hitting 1/20 boxes because either A.) it's on a back road that hasn't scrapped or B.) it's 2-3 feet from the road and behind a 2 foot wall of snow/ice thats been scrapped up and we aren't really allowed to leave our vehicles unless dropping off a package due to insurance issues. Anyways I get through about a 1/3rd of my route that way with a shitload of mail that I couldn't deliver pilling up. Then I pull up to a box only to suddenly sink into the snow and get burried up to my axel while trying to avoid hitting the mailbox and getting stuck :P.

Luckily some nice people on my route noticed and two of them came out with cables and helped pull me out luckily without tearing off my jeeps bumper. I then went on for another 5 miles or so before calling it quits because the roads were blocked up where the plows had seemingly stopped and left ice walls up  . So then I had to trek all the way back to the office and spend two hours resorting all the mail/packages I had back into the case for delivery Monday.

Monday is really going to suck 5/7 routes weren't able to even go their full routes and even those that did had to skip a good percentage of their boxes. Things were only made worse when on of the regulars came in to snark off at us while we recased our mail  . Those guys are going to throw a hissy fit on Monday when they see all the mail that had to be brought back but there was just no way we could deliver it without risking our vehicles and our lives. I offered to come in and help anyway I could Monday but never got a clear answer back from my Post Master. I ran a full route yesterday while it dumped 6-7 inches on us no problem but today was a whole new set of issues I hope those guys will understand that and not toss us under the bus.

Online dating is such a joke by this point. It is so predictable and 99% fake.

Geek 2 Geek is probably the worst offender I've seen. Nothing but bots.
POF never has good hits.
OkCupid is too much.
Match.com is blah and I ran a paid profile for a year or longer there for a bit.

eharmony is the last one I haven't tried and have a friend who says that's the one he's gotten dates from. Maybe the idea that it picks for you is a good call, no idea. Might give it a shot someday.

But I don't know. I can't even get mad or excited, or feel anything with these sites or hits anymore. I got another inbox message on POF and it took me a few seconds to skim this girls nice photos, who looked fairly believable and normal, only to see the cliche' goofy rofl bio and to check out her cam show so she can pay for college and fake bananas. And I had like no reaction whatsoever, I'm numb to it by this point.

Living in Kansas doesn't help, but wow. Been at this stuff casually on the side for years now and nothing. lol, not like my esteem is low or anything, but I can confidently say that it is a definite waste of my time and energy. I'd rather just meet people in person anyways, but humans are slaves to phones and technology when I was the weird geek kid who liked technology growing up... how the tide has turned!

Wish I lived my 20's in the 80's I think.

I tried eHarmony for a few months, and I got one date from it. That's it.

OkCupid always seemed amusing. If I were single I'd be all over that shit.

OKC sucks, my friend tells me Match is useless. I'm debating signing up for eharmony, my best friend met his girlfriend there and they seem very happy.

Match is pretty useless. eHarmony's crowd (at least for my age bracket) seems a bit more focused on people looking for eventual marriage (which is where I'm at, just calling it out). I've also found that eHarmony tends to be full of normal people, while OKC has a broader range of interests and types of people.

I'm very fond of OKC, actually. It's easy to filter people and find someone you are interested in and it's much easier to actually get to talk to people than in something like Tinder. My only problem with it is that it's not popular in Spain but even then I've gotten some good dates out of it.
