Smile: Last night's Darkest Dungeon stream was ridiculous (warning: lots of NSFW language). I TPK'd against a Shambler I summoned, then fought another one later in the stream, almost TPK'd, then decided against my better judgment to try and finish the quest.
It. Was. Epic.
Smile: I'm also very excited about having coffee with the Director of the Harvard Innovation lab tomorrow about my site: a friend-making website for introverts. Yay business contacts!
Frown: It's been a real long week. Definitely ready for sleep. Lots and lots of sleep.

I'm going through all this too, although I also need a bone graft to my jaw before I can get the titanium screw placed.Michi wrote:They're titanium implants within the jaw where the two top teeth just left and right of center would be.ElkinFencer10 wrote:If you don't mind my asking, what kind of implants?Michi wrote:: Had oral surgery on Monday.
: Was feeling better by Tuesday and had no pain or detectable bruising.
: Was able to go to work today, but still not feeling 100%.
: But everything seems to be going smoothly so far, which means in six short months (or so) my implants will be complete. I've been waiting since I was 12 for this year to come and finally it has *crosses fingers*
So, right about here: The teeth just never formed, so I've been wearing a partial since they fell out. I also had a small bone graft since the jawbone had receded due to the lack of teeth, but that was only minimal. So, basically, there are two rods of metal wedged up in my jawbone and I have to eat soft foods for a week or so and wait while the grafted bone fuses to my existing bone, which should take a few months.
This is basically what's happening- -except right now there's no tooth and no post to put the tooth on, just the metal rod.
The whole thing is about a year-long process, which I'm not really looking forward to, what with all the follow-up visits and allBut the good news is, the doctor was very pleased with how easy the surgery went and he didn't have to do as much as he thought he would (thus giving us a $900 comp on the bill. Yay!)
With any luck, the whole process will be done before next Christmas, thus giving me an opportunity to sing "All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth" with enough joy to profoundly confuse passing strangers

Online dating is such a joke by this point. It is so predictable and 99% fake.
Geek 2 Geek is probably the worst offender I've seen. Nothing but bots.
POF never has good hits.
OkCupid is too much.
Match.com is blah and I ran a paid profile for a year or longer there for a bit.
eharmony is the last one I haven't tried and have a friend who says that's the one he's gotten dates from. Maybe the idea that it picks for you is a good call, no idea. Might give it a shot someday.
But I don't know. I can't even get mad or excited, or feel anything with these sites or hits anymore. I got another inbox message on POF and it took me a few seconds to skim this girls nice photos, who looked fairly believable and normal, only to see the cliche' goofy rofl bio and to check out her cam show so she can pay for college and fake bananas. And I had like no reaction whatsoever, I'm numb to it by this point.
Living in Kansas doesn't help, but wow. Been at this stuff casually on the side for years now and nothing. lol, not like my esteem is low or anything, but I can confidently say that it is a definite waste of my time and energy. I'd rather just meet people in person anyways, but humans are slaves to phones and technology when I was the weird geek kid who liked technology growing up... how the tide has turned!
Wish I lived my 20's in the 80's I think.

I tried eHarmony for a few months, and I got one date from it. That's it.

OkCupid always seemed amusing. If I were single I'd be all over that shit.

OKC sucks, my friend tells me Match is useless. I'm debating signing up for eharmony, my best friend met his girlfriend there and they seem very happy.

Match is pretty useless. eHarmony's crowd (at least for my age bracket) seems a bit more focused on people looking for eventual marriage (which is where I'm at, just calling it out). I've also found that eHarmony tends to be full of normal people, while OKC has a broader range of interests and types of people.

I'm very fond of OKC, actually. It's easy to filter people and find someone you are interested in and it's much easier to actually get to talk to people than in something like Tinder. My only problem with it is that it's not popular in Spain but even then I've gotten some good dates out of it.
