The rare time when a licensed game is really good. I mean so good that it stands on its own as a good game irrespective of the license. I'm thinking of Disney games on Genesis and Capcom licensed games on NES. There're probably a lot of other examples too.

How about a Capcom licensed Disney game on SNES? -- Magical Quest Starring Mickey Mouse and the badly titled sequel The Great Circus Mystery Starring Mickey and Minnie. Stunning what they pulled off in those games across the board (control, game play, audio, visuals and use of color.)

How about McKids? I don't think anyone expected that to be a good game, but I think it's pretty great.

I never played WC on the PC but I did have (and still do) the SNES versions of the original game and "Secret Missions."

They play surprisingly well and while I have no doubt that they don't hold a candle to the PC games, they were fun SNES games on their own merits.
Have: Sega Genesis, SNES, Atari 2600, Atari 7800, Atari 800XL, PC, N3DS XL, Wii U, GBA, Xbox One, Switch

Want: Games!!!

For whatever reason Disney and Batman are often exempt from the the "licensed properties suck" rule. Adventures of Batman and Robin is one of my favorite SNES games of all time, probably like in the top five.

I'm just amazed that someone else remembers this game! You're one cool cucumber. Go buy yourself a Big Mac from me. McKids really is a cool little game and surprisingly deep by NES standards.

So on my bedside table I keep the standard things people keep in their open frame three floor tables. Lamp, tissues, chapstick, phone charger, book I am reading, Bible, 1951 Rayovac boat switch flashlight with 3w led bulb, hand held systems, and a cat bed. My 3ds had a good bit of dust on it so I decide to fire up it up just to see if I really want to get this Final Fantasy Explorers next month. Well its batteries were dead, cat must have bumped it off the charger and it was in standby. So I grabbed the old XL and see what was on the flashcart. Unplugged for almost a year, still had over 80% battery. I opened the flash cart and started playing some 8 player Bomberman, it was like it never missed a beat. Took me back to 2009 when the XL replaced my Zodiac as my daily use Palm Pilot. Heck I still have the Pokemon distribution roms on the flashcart from when I use to give them away at conventions.

But thats not the happy bit. So I flipped through what was installed on the machine and went into the photo section. I ended up finding photos of my two oldest nieces from their toddler years, and the last photos I took of my grandfather days before he passed. That is a sobering moment. I had no idea that the photos were on the machine. Seeing the now seven year olds as two year olds, and my grandfathers office as he left it.

Now I am off to play DS games.

Haha, that's one of my favorite platformers on the NES. I've had my copy for probably 8 years, and with the exception of Mario 3, it's the platformer I play most on my NES.

I so want to donate to it, but I don't like how much they want you to shovel over just to get a ship, let alone one that won't put you at a disadvantage and suck when the game goes live. It just seems grubby considering the millions they've pulled in and the slow crawl of progress. I'm on their mailer and keep up to date on it.
I avoided putting any cash into Star Citizen for the longest time but paid the bare minimum $30 when they had a sale because I'm interested in the Squadron 42 single player module which is due out this year. That's really the only thing I want out of the entire project since it's the closest I'll ever get to a new Wing Commander game. If that goes over well then my money is well spent. I really don't care about the rest of Star Citizen and its persistent universe but I'll give it a shot if it ever comes out.

They really had to maul the gameplay to get it to work on the SNES, such as only being able to engage one fighter at a time and most of the sprite animation and scaling being completely removed. But they did their best with what they had. Special Operations is kind of neat since it has a unique opening cutscene and a super-cool Mode 7 launch sequence.

I always liked M.C. Kids. McDonalds Treasureland Adventure on the Genesis is also great. Global Gladiators is half-decent though barely has anything to do with McDonalds outside of the product placement. McDonalds shockingly had a decent track record with video games.

I'm still waiting for Call of Burger: Fast Food Warfare, a next-gen first person shooter where you shoot Big Macs at your enemies to kill them with instant heart attacks and complications from diabetes.

I remember that sale but I just didn't have the $30 free at the time, plus it just kind of felt steep paying in advance, much like how i will never back a kickstarter or the like. Sorry if it sounds like one of those kids and their instant gratification but I'm not an investor so if I pay, I get my item, not a promise.

Squadron 42 is what I'm largely only interested in. I know there's some marine FPS thing too, guess like the old marine groups in WC1 you'd see in the victory cut scenes torching furballs brought to life. I have really little/no interest in the open world privateeresque or not like free for all though.

Nah I get you totally because that's exactly where I was in regards to Star Citizen. I let the reddit convince me that it would be better to hop in then than to have to pay $60 for the standalone version of Squadron 42 when it comes out plus I'd have access to Star Citizen stuff. I haven't really monkeyed around much with the alpha modules but they are impressive to say the least.

Having seen some of the mo-cap stuff and interviews with the actors I'm pretty confident Squadron 42 will at least be worth it and have that classic cinematic feeling even if the rest of Star Citizen ends up crashing and burning under the weight of its feature bloat.
