One positive about having less gaming time, is you cherish the gaming time you do have all the more, and make better decisions about what games are actually worth said limited time.
That's very true. I couldn't get a job as a teen, since I had the luck of coming of age during an economic downturn, so I played a lot of video games. I never hit 12 hours straight, since I would break for meals, but I certainly spent entire days in front of the TV or computer. I'd play anything too, as long as it didn't have a negative reputation.
Now I considered myself fortunate that I made 50 hours of time to play Fallout New Vegas over the holiday season (I'm talking like a 4 week period here). I'd never put that kind of time into some of the games I used to play, just because time is too precious. I'll either play something I really like, or I'll do something else.
