I could use the bat top from it for now, and then I'll have a stick ready for when I get around to modding the Mayflash (assuming I do). I'm not sure what stick I will need later, maybe not HAPP? Are there only certain ones the Mayflash can be modded with?
that happ stick may fit, i'm not positive but i know the dimensions are available. You're not going to be able to use the top or shaft out of it on anything else though.
Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

So stick with the Sanwa bat top (plus adapter) then?

it's worth a shot. make sure that at the very least, the stock balltop comes off before you order. There should be a slot on the opposite end of the joystick shaft for a flat head screwdriver, at which point you should be able to unscrew the ball top.

The ball actually unscrews if you hold the metal bar steady. It was even loose out of the box, but I tightened it while holding the bar with pliers.
I have to admit, I'm starting to warm up to the Mayflash now after spending some time with it this weekend. Knowing some of the issues I had are also found in the cheaper Horis makes me feel better about this purchase. Leaving auto fire on helps a lot with missed button presses, although I felt button presses were more responsive on PS2 than the PC.
It's playing decently with beat-em-ups and SHMUPs, both on MAME and the PS2. I tried it on Super Street Fighter 2 however and found it a bit unresponsive. Good thing I don't play a lot of fighters. I also found myself struggling with the last two stages of R-Type Leo, but that could also do with the fact it's a pretty hard SHMUP.
One thing I found that is hard to deal with, I find my hands hurt after about thirty minutes of playing. This could be the fact I've never really played an arcade stick at home before. I'm also not as nimble getting between small spaced bullets in SHMUPs as I am with a d-pad. I'm learning it though, so it'll probably feel second nature sooner or later. I just like the novelty of it. Having it on my desk feels like I'm sitting at a Japanese arcade machine.

Let me know how the mod goes. If successful, I could hire you to mod mine... assuming you're cool with that.
