Re: universal arcade stick?
I have one on the way to me right now. I plan to post my impressions once I spend some time with it.
Also, you can find it cheaper than the listing you posted. I got mine from and eBay seller called PNP games. It ended up being $44 shipped and they sent it out the next business day.

I've seen modded ones around. I've never heard anything about how they are stock though.

These are sold under a bunch of different names. "Mayflash" is one I see a lot (I think that's the logo on that one).
Generic, cheap, Chinese parts. No good for long-term/serious play. But as with all cheap sticks, it usually serves as a base for modding with your preference of real arcade parts.

I just checked the Delivery Confirmation, and it appears my shipment arrived at my local post office this morning around 5am. Hopefully this means I'll have the arcade stick tonight when I get home.

Re: universal arcade stick?
Got it in the mail yesterday and played with it for a while... and well...
...I think I learned a hard lesson unfortunately getting this stick. The build quality is decent enough, but the stick itself is very loose and wobbly. Not to mention, the whole stick spins (like it's unscrewing) in place freely, and you're hand will easily slip off when playing. I'm not sure if this is normal for arcade sticks or not.
The buttons feel nice, but I'm having issues with responsiveness. There's definite lag in MAME and sometimes button hits don't register.
I should've listened to the complaints on this one. Looks like now I'll have to see if I can get a refund from the seller or maybe find someone who will mod it for me with better parts.

damn man, that isn't what i wanted to hear, I was really hoping you'd have better luck. It is normal for the joystick itself to be able to spin, even on arcade quality joysticks (Japanese style spin easier than american style, just FYI). The buttons on that stick are basically a "blown up" button from a normal console controller, which is likely why they miss presses. It's just a rubber plunger pushing down on a PCB contact. as far as lag, that's a whole different ball game, depending on how the stick is hooked up and what drivers if any are involved. you may find that using a normal PS2 to USB adapter can yeild better results than using the sitcks own USB plug. sometimes it makes it worse though

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

I did just a plug-and-play, so maybe I'll install the CD drivers and see what happens. I also happen to have a PS2-to-USB, so I'll give that a whirl too.skate323k137 wrote:damn man, that isn't what i wanted to hear, I was really hoping you'd have better luck. Maybe I can get used to the spinning stick, just get a tighter grip on the whole thing. I don't know, I'm pretty bummed. First impression wasn't so great.
I have a feeling the seller won't issue a refund, so I might be stuck with this one.

Re: universal arcade stick?
Do you know if there are any mods to remove the spinning and hold the stick in place?
