Re: VF2 finally playable on PC
See, this is something that I'd think was really cool (and it is!), play around with for five minutes then go straight back to VF5 on my 360. The game has just evolved too much for me to play for anything beyond the nostalgia factor.

Re: Street Fighter IV PC Version Not Shipping 'Til June???
But the arcade version practically runs on a PC. It does, but it also runs on a PC where they know exactly what the hardware specs are going to be. To release a PC game you essentially have to optimise (or not, I guess, as many CAPCOM PC releases have shown...) it to run on every possible variation...

Re: Maniac Mansion
I appreciate the NES version has nostalgia value for you, but you should really check out Maniac Mansion Deluxe: http://www.bigbluecup.com/games.php?action=detail&id=401 Same as the original PC version but with redone graphics and sound, with music taken from Day Of The Tentacle and mixed in. It...

Re: difficulty of the MGS series ?
I believe MGS4 was the easiest of the series because it had useful (though still not perfect) controls. MGS1-3 were essentially 3D games with 2D gameplay. MGS4 made the switch to 3D gameplay good and proper, but whether it was due to lack of experience on the part of the developers, or perhaps the v...

Re: 1UP sold, EGM apparently shutting down
I cannot comment on EGM, as I only read a digital copy in my Uni library to try and get a critical opinion on MGS2 (wasn't a really usable one - they are enthusiast, afterall, not academic). Thankfully EDGE is still going strong, and with the academic edge (oh! ho! ho!) in its writing I never regret...

Re: 1UP sold, EGM apparently shutting down
Jeremy Parish is confirmed to still be on board. While it isn't terribly surprising that cutbacks were made, it seems that the purchasing company is greatly diminishing the value of its acquisition. It may be gaining traffic in the short-term, but I don't think it will be a good long-term value. Pe...

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
Christmas is a time for watching the DVDs/Blu Rays your family all received together! Rendition Thought-provoking and frankly frightening film that, while actually a work of fiction, is based around various similar (alleged, though I seriously doubt it doesn't happen) cases of America using prisons ...

Re: So I hooked up the ps3 to the CRT...
To clarify: I called HD res a tool. Not a requirement. Very few games run at 1080p (and not a lot are actually hitting 720p) for reasons of improved effects and higher polygon counts. Art direction always trumps raw numbers. Hence I accept the facility without question, while not expecting developer...

Re: 1UP sold, EGM apparently shutting down
A real shame. 1UP was always very good for letting the individual personalities of every reviewer/editor shine through. While many found this infuriating, I found it very useful for reading reviews ("Jeremy Parish, he has similar tastes to me and liked this game a lot, I'll buy this for sure!&q...

Re: Chu Chu Rocket to XBLA or WiiWare?
Despite the fact I (like nearly everyone else, I'd imagine) got it for free from SEGA the first time around, I really would not mind paying £5 or so for a perfect XBLA version. They could even do away with the 2-second lag between pressing the button and the arrow appearing, thanks to broadband. Wou...
