Re: Dreamcast Racing Games Article - Tell us what you think!
I have to disagree about Daytona. The game should have handled well right out of the box. The new player shouldn't have to fiddle with sensitivity controls. Once you get good, then go fiddle with it. I was very disappointed -- if it handled like the Saturn version, that would have been terrific. Th...

Re: Japanese Dreamcast Titles with English Option
VGA is available on the US version of the game, though of course you don't get the X content. If I remember right all you get is a few minutes of cut scenes and there is no other difference. I confirmed for Puzzle Fighter. You need to know the cheat code to access the special options in that game. C...

Re: Japanese Dreamcast Titles with English Option
It's a minor thing, but to people interested in getting DDR 2ND Mix with a dance pad, it's smarter to get a PS1/DC controller converter than buying any of the official dance mats. They're not as high quality. DDR also doesn't support VGA video output, which is rare and worth noting to people who pla...

Re: Dreamcast Racing Games Article - Tell us what you think!
Well, in addition to settling in to that new job, I also came across medical complications a 27 year old should never have to deal with. This year has been a complicated one. I've got my Dreamcast hooked back up and should have the time and money to start researching the racing game library again. I...

Re: Japanese Dreamcast Titles with English Option
Well the nice thing about games like Twinkle Star and Puyo Puyo are that they fully translate the story, but the real critical thing is the menus. All the popular imports are self explanatory arcade games after all. Keep in mind Twinkle Star requires you to change the language option too, it's just ...

Re: Give me a guide to the recent Sonic games...
Sonic Adventure 2 was difficult for many people to play, as the controls required a fair deal of precision. Anyone who says the controls are outright bad, in reality just wanted the game to be more lenient. Sonic Adventure 2 was designed with an arcade mentality in regards to getting grades and high...

Re: Japanese Dreamcast Titles with English Option
Are you looking for games that let you switch back and forth, or just import games that happen to be fully in English? Twinkle Star Sprites' main benefits on Dreamcast over Saturn are that you can completely eliminate slowdown from the game, and you can easily switch the game to 100% English. As men...

Re: Dreamcast Racing Games Article - Tell us what you think!
Would just like to say thanks for making an impossible game playable for me. I played with the controller settings until I was comfortable. I have played Daytona through to completion now and I must say that I loved every minute of it. The difficulty was spot on, I had to practice on time trial to ...

Re: Dreamcast Racing Games Article - Tell us what you think!
OP, you've covered the good Dreamcast racing games I know. But your descriptions are kind of confusing: what is meant by 'mechanical knowledge required?' Is that the same as 'learning curve' or something? It might also be useful to list which games have been completely supplanted by modern games an...

Re: Dreamcast Racing Games Article - Tell us what you think!
I can't say just how different the two versions are but I do know there is a significant change between the UK and US versions on a technical level. Supposedly the UK version is quite inferior. It's supposed to have some significant glitches and visually be not well optimized. Susceptible to a lot o...
