Re: Heat Shrink Tubing , a small issue im having
For small heatshrink tube jobs I actually glide the neck of my soldering iron all around the surface of the tube. I mean not the tip but the the wide straight part inside of which the element is. For larger heatshrink jobs I use heatgun. I pretty much never use flame, it works but I find it easier t...

Re: Do You Have Any Unpopular Gaming Opinions?
I think FPS on consoles suck balls big time. Keyboard/mouse or nothing.

Re: SNES minor/major/annoying Video Issue
I was saying this because I have a faulty SNES that I believe I damaged myself with that power switch. I did not power cycle the console and it was the one with the big cap at the input. This large cap keeps a charge of the voltage from the AC adpter, around 10v and is connected right to the power s...

Re: SNES minor/major/annoying Video Issue
One thing to be really careful with SNES, when taking it appart. If you unscrew the power switch from it's two poles, Make sure that : 1. Ac adapter is not connected. 2. The console is power cycled. No.2 is especially important on models that have the big capacitor on the power input. It can retain ...

Re: XBOX Disc tray/drive won't open
Hmm I said boil? I think the original instructions said "let soak in hot water till it is cool". I fully agree you might as well replace the strap but then I went to the local part store and did not have the right size so I ended up doing the hot water trick. Which worked for a month or tw...

Re: XBOX Disc tray/drive won't open
It seems this issue is typically caused by dry/dirty rubber strap in the eject tray mechanism. You have to take apart the optical drive and replace the strap. It is recommended you use exactly the same size as using too tight will strain the gears. Boiling the straps works too but it is only short t...

Re: SNES minor but annoying Video Issue
Damaging a solder pad for a cap is not ideal but it is not mortal, they can be repaired with a little bit of wire. It is pretty easy to damage them as you remove the caps. I now have a desoldering gun with electrical pump which makes this job much safer and faster but when I used a manual pump I dam...

Re: SNES minor but annoying Video Issue
You can also make a good console with two bad ones. I have a SNES that I suspect has a faulty CPU, but the PPU is good. I could transfer the PPU in your console and resurrect it. For this reason it is important to not destroy or chuck faulty consoles, but find someone who can fix them. Many people ...
