I'm going to say that my favorite SRPG franchises (so far) are Shining Force, Sakura Taisen and Fire Emblem. If you want a really challenging game Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn has got you covered. Dreamcast not recognizing a disc
So a while back I tried to revisit my favorite game, Grandia 2, but when I put the disc in my Dreamcast it told me there wasn't a disc in it at all. The disc is pretty scratched as I have had it since i was 10 and didn't really know how to take care of them back. I have other DC games from back then...

I remember when I bought Final Fantasy X-2 brand new. I saw the commercial, looked awesome, played it, was throughly disappointed. Personally I would recommend Power Stone for a beginner. Its easy to pick up and play. No real combos to remember, no real counters other than evading and pressing b when someone is about to grab you or throw a box at your face. Its all technique not really remembering anything very complex. Though ...
