I just finished the first Front Mission and I loved it! It had such great characters and I loved how the gameplay was a sort of cross between Armored Core and Final Fantasy Tactics (two of my favorite games).
I'm now considering checking out the other games in the series but I understand the more recent ones are more third person shooterish? Do any of you have any suggestions for which of other ones in the franchise I should play if I liked the gameplay in the first one?
Or even any good SRPGs in general. I'm a big fan of the genre. So far I've played FFT, Tactics Ogre and have been looking at getting my hands on either Vandal Hearts or Vandal Hearts II.
Finished Front Mission! SRPG suggestions?

Front Mission 3 is my favorite of the series, get a ps1 if you dont have one already

Shining Force.

If you like mech-themed specifically, you should most definitely check out the Super Robot Taisen games. Great SRPGs.
I also second Shining Force and Disgaea, although I think anyone would.

Disgaea is a title that every SRPG fan must have under their belt. It is practically a requirement, so start grinding now while you still have free time.

Have you played the original Tactics Ogre?
Give the early Arc the Lad games a shot. 1-2 connect like one huge game and they're pretty dang fun with lots to do. You also actually walked in towns and dungeons, so it was interesting how they worked that in with an SRPG battle system, and had a little more interactivity than other games of the genre.

Hey thanks for all the suggestions!
I've played the Tactics Ogre that was ported to the PS1 and it's a lot of fun -except leveling up your party can be very tedious.
I'll definitely try and pick up FM3 and also check out Disgaea and Shining Force. Arc the Lad looked sort of interesting as well.
I'll have lots of time to devote to games this summer thankfully.

Dust off that GBA, and dive into its beautiful SRPG backlog. Two US-release Fire Emblem games, one additional JPN-only release, two Advance Wars games, a tactics ogre game, Yggdra Union, a Shining Force games, two Super Robot Wars games (with US Releases!), and Rebelstar, an X-com like game.
