I've looked all over the net and read even racketboy's guide on burning Dreamcast .cdi images. I used discjuggler to burn Illbleed, I set the options to "Mode 2" and RAW WRITE, 16x setting. Disc juggelr 6 (demo) starts the burn session but it only says "Stage 1 of 1", then it finalizes the CD and apparently has finished burning the CD in 30 seconds!!! This is a CDI image im burning here and my DC doesn't load the game at all. I assume it's disc juggler that failed. I even burned the CDI image in alcohol 120% and still no luck! My DC is Manufactured in August 1999 if that says anything.
What do I do? I have already burned Utopia Boot CD v1.3 and it comes up on the DC and I see a reindeer, but how "exactly" do I use this boot CD? I've tried googling the question but I can never seem to find anything relating to my question. I've tried swapping the boot CD for the Illbleed CDI image that I burned, but no luck.
Could it be the CDI image? How do you tell how many sessions are in a .CDI ???
I really need help.
Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
Try the program BootDreams, and try burning at slower speeds. It works very well for .CDI files, and every successful burn I've done for a DC game has been done with it. I have never gotten DiscJuggler to work.
Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
It could be the cdi image. How large is the image when it's unpacked?

Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
Frankly, I always use CDI2NRG to convert the CDI files to Nero NRG files and then I burn them in Nero. They usually work just fine.

Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
if the utopia cd boots, your DC will run backups. sounds to me like its a bad image.

Need FreeMCboot? I'll install it on your PS2 Memory Card for free if you cover postage both ways.
Consoles: I have too much stuff
Arcade: No seriously, I have too much stuff. Someone grab a shovel and dig me out of my basement.

Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
Yea, I downloaded a CDI image of Soul Caliber from SNES O RAMA and it had (CDI)(SB)beside the title on the list. This means self-boot, so there is a possibility that the Illbleed CDI image was not a "self-boot" image. Is this the case then? Not all CDI are self-boot, right?
Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
Yeah, then it's possible it's just that Illbleed is not self-booting and needs the Utopia boot disc first. Give it a shot and let us know what happens.
Re: Really annoyed, Dreamcast backups?!?!?
I don't know why so many people suggest such a convoluted way of burning Dreamcast games. I have never had a single problem burning any kind of Dreamcast image with alcohol 120%. I don't know if that would fix your problem, but it will make burning games far far far easier and faster.

Yea, I just downloaded a self-booting Illbleed CDI from Underground gmaer and it works fine. I used Alcohol 120% to burn it too. But the guy above me is right, why do people make such ridiculous and complicating ways to burn DC games... "You must use Disc Juggler to burn CDI images!!!", "You must use this or that, the settings have to be set to these certain parameters!". I mean, this is all nothing but simplicity.
Thanks everyone for the input, it's all clear to me now, and it's absurdly simple how this all is, lol.
Just burn and play... No mod chip, no nothing...
