2D controlling solution for the gamecube

Post by blue_veilvet »

Hi,

I bought a Gamecube mainly to play GB, GBC and Gameboy Advance games. However, the D-Pad of the original Gamecube controller is a bit too small to play old 2D games. Do you know some better alternative, like Gamecube controllers from another brand or converters to use like SNES or PSX controllers instead?

I apologize if my English is a bit shabby in this post, it's just too late and I'm just too non-UK-European right now.

I use a PSX-To-GCN converter. It works pretty well.

I would think the Hori Gameboy Player would be your best option.

Good luck finding one of those....... Ive been on the search for about a year now. Just get a Cube Joybox, but NOT a Magic Path II. I Went through 2 that were DOA, before I ordered a Cube Joybox and it works great.

Edit: I think its better to use a PS1 dualshock, as the PS2 one has analog shoulder buttons, so you have to make sure to press them hard enough, which is kinda annoying.

They're not hard to find. You just have to be willing to pay 60 USD. Waiting around to pick one up for 20 USD would be like expecting to find an official Dreamcast twinstick controller for 40 USD. It's just not going to happen.

These Hori controllers look gorgeous, but for now, I'll go with the cheaper alternative of the cube joybox.

I use my PS2 HRAP through an adapter.

Or you can get a SNES to GC adapter.
 (FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)
