Handheld Shmups
Handheld Shmups
The only good handheld shmups I can think of are Nanostray 2 and Judgement Silversword. Anyone know of any more?

Re: Handheld Shmups
there's a few threads like this... I say gradius collection, CPS2PSP, and the vulkanon & bullet hell homebrew games for GBA. I'm yet to play ketsui DS.
Re: Handheld Shmups
If you count homebrew there's a good GBA homebrewed schmup called Super Wings. It's available in both a classic gameboy color scheme as well as a more colorful version.
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

Ketsui: Death Label for the DS is absolutely awesome and highly adictive - easily the best handheld shooter i've played (not counting emulated ones). It might just be just boss rush mode but the different levels of difficulty keep things varied and will keep you playing for ages, especially if you enjoy playing for score.
Re: Handheld Shmups
new one out just recently called big band mini. not a traditional shmup (uses touch screen),but still looks....interesting
Re: Handheld Shmups
Gradius Galaxies for the gba is pretty nice. Sigma Star is not. it gets the most repetative shmup award. and the 2d adventure sections aren't too good either....neither is the plot. not a fan of that game. I'd like to get a flash cart for the gba and load some of the homebrews on my micro.
Re: Handheld Shmups
Sigma Star is OK. It has highs and low. Gradius Galaxies is a find entry in the series. The only part of it which doesn't hold up to the Gradius legacy is the music, which suffers in much the same way most early Konami GBA titles suffered.
Re: Handheld Shmups
I looked at Iridion 2 for the GBA. It looks nice. I also recommend Ketsui Death Label. Real accessible. Gradius: Interstellar Assault for the original Game Boy is fun from what I played of it. Gradius Galaxies is pretty fun and like Ketsui Death Label, it too is easily accessible. Gradius Galaxies is easier that the other entries of Gradius.

I like the psp game platypus. It's a side scrolling shmup that has really long levels and gave me hours of game play
