Has American McGee earned the right to present anything?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Joystiq brings up an interesting question:

Your thoughts?

Personally, I think that even though he may not be the greatest developer, it still helps bring brand recognition to his games. While they might not sell well, they would probably sell even worse without it.

I don't think his (or any other developer) name needs to be associated with the title of the game. I mean developer recognition is great and in many cases (David Jaffe, Time Schaffer, Hideo Kojima) well deserved, but it does not need to be in the title.

I'll take American McGee over John Romero any day.
John Romero got lucky by working with the right guys (mainly Carmack). He has a terribly case of ego-itis.

Yeah but if you read Masters of Doom, he really did contribute ALOT to the original id/Apogee crew (Commander Keen, Doom, etc..)

I'll say I remember when Alice came out and all I thought was, "Who the hell is this American F***er and why does he get a game?". I never heard of the dillweed and I even played Doom.

I haven't heard anything of him since accept for a short blurb he spoke in some Doom 3 preview movie. He was only talking about what he did on Doom 2 (i think) and it dawned on me the prick did 2 freaking games. TWO. Now I know why I haven't heard of him in a while either... it has taken him this last 6 years to make his next stupid game.

So yes, I think he should put his name on the box... to let me know he made it so I won't buy it. And also so those who actually like him won't forget what his name is... cause you know... it is SO hard to forget.

Same here. the last thing I remember about AM besides Alice was when he put the Wii down for no good reason other than to get some fame.

What a loser.
