Best media for 3DO?
I recently picked up a 3DO along with a ton of other stuff from a co-worker from work. It came with a couple of games including D, Super Wing Commander, Rebel Assault and Syndicate but with the exception of D, the games are pretty badly scratched and barely run at all.
I grabbed a couple of images online and while the burned discs run much better then the scratched disks, it does get really choppy sometimes. Reading up on it, I see that R.E.A.L. 3DO's are really picky about the media it uses for burns, anyone have any suggestions on what type of media to use? My Circuit City media doesn't seem to cut it.

Try maxell or verbatim. Works for me on most games, normally it doesn't even care what brand they are it just ignores them.

Re: Best media for 3DO?
Thanks! I actually did some more digging and got the same answer about the verbatim CDR's. Even with burning images on Verbatim though, it was still skipping like crazy; so I decided to pop the unit open and clean it up. I had a decent build up of dirt in the CD-ROM portion of the 3DO and after cleaning it up, games are playing great!executioner wrote:Try maxell or verbatim. i swear that has got to be a myth...i have burned about 15 games from UG myself, i run at 48x and have yet to hit a speed bump. I use sony, memorex, and my cd burner is made by LG. I can put in a cdr and the laser will work just as hard...if not less, than a normal mint 3do game.
Which batch file did you download from UG...146 gb one?
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.
Re: Best media for 3DO?
myth ? maybe.
the data "should" be the same regardless as the console just reads slower.
You may be a lucky one with good media, but empirical data with next gen consoles show similar issues with dvd writers. Not all are created equal, and the majority of them just suck at dual layer.
I never had an issue burning games with my older burner...32x or so..., but i've tried 3 current burners, and they just suck unless i keep at a crawl.
