More a warning than a Review for Lego Star Wars 2 for the Ds

Post by arion »

Im not going to explain the gameplay or the story instead im just going to point out the game killing bugs that plague the Ds port of Lego Star Wars 2.

Lets start with the camera. In some levels the camera just seems to forget you so you just see your lego guy walk of screen. But i did find a workaround to that if you use extra mode like rainy day during gameplay it resets the camera sometimes. But ofcourse maybe a specific button to reset the camera would have been way better but ofcourse there isn't.

Then there are the graphics now generally they look good but sometimes one of the following ruins them.

Severe framedrop in some of the bigger areas. Also some levels seem to suffer from that the whole time.

Disappearing graphics or items. Sometimes things that you can destroy just disappear and if you move close your lego guy also disappears you can still shoot but you wont hit anything. Also when this happens the framerate drops and can be very annoying if this happens near enemies.

Character model graphic glitches sometimes but not as frequent as the two above the textures for some characters will become a random mesh of colors.

Then there is the A.I your teammates sometimes fall into a death loop like falling into the same pit over and over again. And that can ruin the game when you need to switch characters for specific skills and r2 d2 is stuck somewhere back in the level. And in some cases you cant switch to them.

Anyway you have been warned and i sold my copy which i fortunately bought used :D

Yeah I had this and it was very glitchy. Shame because when it was behaving itself it was a pretty good game.

I've heard the complete trilogy is much better but I have played neither.

Yeah I heard that but I have not had the chance to play it yet - its still too expensive.

I'm currently playing Lego Indiana Jones on the DS and that runs great, I've not noticed any slowdown yet and the glitches are pretty minimal.
