Radiant Silvergun vs. Einhander

Post by omer »

For the longest time, Einhander (psx) was my favorite shooter of all time. Not until recently that I purchased a mod chip from racketboy and played Radiant Silvergun. I couldn't believe the graphics and game play the developers tapped out of the Saturn for this game.

I can't really compare these two games because they are very different. However they're both shmups. Both phenomenal in their innovative ways...but here's the question:

Which of these two awesome shooters do you think is better?

Einhander or Radiant Silvergun

please dont answer or vote unless you've played both games.

How many people have actually played Radiant Silvergun? ;o

Nobody does a shooter like Treasure, Radiant Silvergun has my vote hands down.

I actually have both these games in their respective consoles hooked up to my TV right now. Einhander is undeniably badass. Awesome even. But it doesn't quite have the jaw dropping visual appeal that Radiant Silvergun does. My GF can barely stand to watch me play RSG, it's that intense.

RS is a better shooter, but Ein does have a more impressive (to me) soundtrack.

I actually consider these two to be the best shmup soundtracks I've ever come across. RS especially surprised me by using Final Fantasy Tactics composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. He also did Vagrant Story and FF12.

I like the RS tunes OK, but I've never been a fan of the "synth orchestra" sound that RS relies upon. I find it much easier to continue listening to the Ein soundtrack outside of the game.

There needs to be a fourth option: "I don't like either".

Are we yet to hear of a shooter that elvis does actually like?

RS is totally awesome, and way more the sort of shooter I normally like to play (it's vertical for a start), but I had to vote for both, as Einhander has this 'cool' thing going on, like it's not trying too hard to be awesome; but is, whereas RS chucks everything including the kitchen sink at you to say how awesome it is; and is.
