Re: will a guitar hero controller work on rock band? xbox 360.
i don't think it will on 360. i don't know.
i absolutely hate these games, though, so i sometimes like to spread misinformation around so people get frustrated with them and stop playing/purchasing them.

I hate the Rock band guitar as well...
And yes it works just fine. When we play Rock Band here we use both my Guitar Hero 2 guitars for the 360.

i just don't like the control scheme (gimmicky), i don't appreciate the obsession (irritating), and i guess i am an elitist asshole when it comes to music type stuff (personal problem).
i dunno, just never really cared for them. i'm okay at them so it's not an ability vs. ego issue, i just think they're total junkware and the phenomenon irritates the hell out of me. why these parents wouldn't just get their kids a $70 guitar instead of a $70 video game is confounding to me.

agreed. Worse though is the fact that people feel accomplished playing it. All I feel is like I just wasted money and time instead of playing my real guitar.aaron wrote:i just don't like the control scheme (gimmicky), i don't appreciate the obsession (irritating), and i guess i am an elitist asshole when it comes to music type stuff (personal problem).

Older. Not wiser.

I play guitar. Much better than probably anyone on this forum. I teach many students how to play guitar and have done for some time now.
Yet I play Rock Band/Guitar hero. Why would I waste time playing these games instead of playing guitar?
Because I enjoy playing them. They are fun. It's that simple.
Fun games, sell well.
To me RB/GH is a simple score attack game. No different to any shmup/arcade game. I care not for the shiny bells and whistles of a 'tour mode'. Just the constant challenges of dexterity that the game throws at you.
Now, what I don't agree with is people playing on Easy mode and getting a buzz out of it. It's easy, there is no challenge, therefore no reward other than the false sense of achievement of pretending to be a rock star. If you aren't playing these games on at least Hard you are doing it wrong.
Then again, the other side of the coin is that these games provide an escape. They make you feel like you are doing something you wouldn't generally do. I.E. Being a rock star. For some people this is all they need to enjoy the game. To pretend. If you don't believe in that then I suggest you just stop playing games altogether because believe it or not that is what is happening when you play every single game you own. The suspension of disbelief and/or the immersion that every game lends itself to make you believe you are what you are not. A space marine, superhero, racing driver, car thief, murderer, alien, rock star, whatever you want to be.

As compared to the shame you feel after beating any other videogame?RyaNtheSlayA wrote:agreed. Worse though is the fact that people feel accomplished playing it. You know, I don't like FPS games cause I'd rather go out and shoot animals with a real gun, and I'd rather go play real pool and kick a real soccer ball around. Then maybe go home and have a real wrestling match with my buddies and then maybe go fly a real fighter jet! Then finally I'll curl up in bed after that one hefty day of playing with real things, and read a book instead of playing an RPG.
Come on, playing a guitar takes YEARS of practice. Playing guitar hero takes 20 minutes and a beer. And I highly doubt any guitar hero gamer over the age of 12 would ever dare compare it to playing a real guitar.
