Is it worth buying a Jap or modded PS2 for these games
I've been looking at these games for a while now and with Christmas coming I was thinking about buying a Jap or modding a PS2 for these games. Demon Chaos/Ikusagami looks awesome anyone own this? Over 65,000 solders on screen at once charging at you looks pretty cool. heres the video Secondly, Samurai Spirits: Tenkaichi Kenkakuden looks great as well being the hardcore Samurai Showdown fan that I am. My only fear is it being anything like Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, just awful. Lastly Forbiden Siren, is supposed to be a big improvement over the first one. I just finished Siren: Lost Translation and I'm looking for more. Anymore suggestions on must play imports? Just a warning my japanese sucks right now. I know Demon Chaos and Forbiden Siren came out in english in Europe so I will be buying PAL versions of those games. But has USA missed any must play Japanese PS2 games that came out in Europe but not in USA? Anyone have suggestions? I thank you in advance.

Owning a PS2 capable of NTSC-J import play is definitely worth it. The volume of quality titles available that never made it to the west is quite high.
As for buying a Japanese PS2, I'm neither here nor there on that. Warranty-wise it's probably smarter to go with a local PS2 and a swap magic kit. There are plenty of modding options too for PS2s now, including soft-mods (although you need an existing modded PS2 or swap magic kit to perform the soft mod).
But either way, the PS2 is dropping in price like crazy, and the existing library of games (and the variety available) is massive. Now's the time to buy while the buying is cheap.
