got my new modchip so I was excited to work on it again and get it right this time. I tried to solder the signal wire to my 32 pin chip, I guess I fed just a little too much extra solder on the wire and it spilled onto the pins next to it. my grandpa suggested heating it up and scraping it off (a brilliant suggestion). well I guess it got too hot or something because the 14th pin came clean off the board.
now my saturn is a paperweight.

can anyone link me to someone that will do it for me? I dont want to kill another saturn.

If you can see the pin that came loose, why not try soldering it back? You've got nothing to lose at this point.

And get some desoldering braid for these situations. Hot solder is a lot easier to sop up than scrape off.

Like he said you hve nothing to lose. Unless you have spread solder on the board. Then I'd say its time for a new saturn or buy a cheap one that needs repair.

I have a round button NTSC unit that is minus it's CD drive and only outputs black and white video but you are welcome to it for a few bucks if there are parts you can salvage.

there is no solder on the board, thank god. all I need to do is solder some a wire between the chip and the board? what if the melted solder gets on the chip? with that mess it up or anything?

aw hell, I should send it out to someone and have them repair/install it.

If you're not too good with soldering then you might want to have some one else try to fix it, but I wouldn't throw it away. That pin could most likely be fixed. And as some one else mentioned, I would get a de-soldering device, they make for really clean jobs. They make real complex ones, and real simple ones. The one I have is just a little guy, like a mucus removal for infants.

I emailed http://www.angelfire.com/pa/Raluminat/forsale.html about installing the chip for me. I got a reply and when I emailed him back I never got a response. it has been...about a week and a half with no reply, this sucks.
