Using Xbox 360 Controllers on Original XBox

Not that I'd want to use the standard controller, but if I got a 360 Hori Joystick, is there any way to use it on an original XBox.
If not, what's my best joystick solution without breaking the bank (already have my eyes on one for the Wii and 360 in addition to my current Dreamcast & Saturn sticks)

I've been curious about this also, but for the regular controllers. i think getting a arcade stick to work would be much easier though, cracking open the case and soldering the buttons right to a xbox controller pcb would probably do it just fine.
