Steel Battalion + Headplay PCD = BAD ASS!!
Steel Battalion + Headplay PCD = BAD ASS!!
I was pondering getting this Headplay personal cinema display thing for a while so when I found out it now accepts HD signals I was sold. It now accepts every input but HDMI you can even watch video off a compactflash or flashdrive. The Headplay came in on Friday, so naturally I had to hook it up to my Xbox and Steel Battalion. I must say holy shit, its got a great picture, its well built and it really does put a 52'' screen 6' away from you. It really immerses in a game like Steel Battalion or really anything with a first person perspective. The only complaints I have with it is the 4:3 screen ratio but it does do widescreen with black borders. Also it can take a minute to get comfortable, but once ajusted its comfortable for long periods of time. If you have $500.00 lying around or are interested in gadgets like me its highly recommended. I have a LCD HDTV for my new systems and use the Headplay for my older games and they look much better on the Headplay than the LCD. PSP looks good, but the only thing that sucks is the PSP shrinks the picture on video out to hide the jaggies. I must say I'm really impressed with this thing. I forgot to mention its got VGA and does 3D with certain video cards so PC games and movies that support this must look really spectacular. I highly recommend it if your Christmas money is burning a hole in your pocket.

for those of you who don't know what headplay is...
it looks like something i would like to try out, but not something i would ever want to buy. Certainly not at 500 bucks. That kind of money would go to either a ps3 or some surround sound rig before it would ever go to headplay. Which... i think is the main reason why this is a fairly obscure product. At 100 bucks, i would pick one up, but not for anything more than that.
Glad you like it though. It was difficult to find reviews of it online. The few i found were favorable. If i ever see it cheap, i'll probably pick it up.

If this is the one I think it is I heard if you wear glasses you can actually adjust this thing so you can use
it without your glasses on. Pretty cool.

I'd like to try it but I'd never buy one. I could never justify it. Not after just upgrading my 37" plasma to a 42" plasma.

I think they'd be good for people who are space limited.
I'm also interested to see more people support these things via stereoscopic modes in the future. Nintendo had the right idea with the Virtual Boy, only 10 years too early for mass market acceptance.

They offer a 30 day in home trial and if you don't like it they give your money back. Thats what I did and ended up keeping it because of Steel Battalion and certain other driving and shooting games. And theres nothing like surfing the web in complete privacy, especially in a full house.
