I shit my pants. Just reading the title, I decided to buy a PS3 just for RS. Thank goodness I don't need to do that anymore!

And no, Ikaruga is not currently available on PSN.

Ikaruga would be a good release on PSN as would rez. Man this title had me totally psyched (even though I've owned a copy of the real RS on saturn) can you imagine a PSN version with online play, HD graphics and limited to no slowdown. My god. Not to mention it'd cost a fraction of the saturn copy

Speaking of which, why the hell has it not been re-released on any platform? Seems absolutely stupid to just ignore one of the most valuable games as well as the most critically received in the genre. Is it a rights issue or something? Or does Treasure just not want more money?

It's been talked about, I think Treasure will re-release it at some point as they have indicated an interest. Treasure is just so wishy washy about some things. Remember when they said, "we don't do sequels".

They did sequels for Guardian Heroes and Gunstar Heroes for GBA so all hope is not lost.

I heard on Retronauts that the nature of the quote about sequels was taken out of context. What they meant was they are too small a studio to do a bunch of sequels they way they are typically done in the game industry. They'd rather focus on new ideas but aren't against sequels.
