Man, I have no luck with Sega CD's.

Post by Original_Name »

My first one had a broken spindle, so I had to hold the CD's down with tape until the system just stopped trying. I just received another one with a good spindle, but the damn thing won't power on. *Sigh*

Anyone have advice?

It's most likely the fuse. This fuse blows often when an incorrect ac adapter is used and the fuse blows to save the circut board from getting fried. You can open it up and bypass the main juse to test it. If it works there you have it! You may want to replace the fuse or if it gets a power surge of some sort permenent damage could occur.

Is it a model one or two? Here is a how to with a model two pictured:

I just replaced one myself in Sept. Here is the post that explains how and where I got a fuse:

At some point I need to get around to replacing the spindle in my Sega CD 2. It can get the disc spinning well enough to do the game data, but the CD tracks take a long time to load up (exceedingly noticable on Shining Force CD). My current solution is I found a cheap CDX that wouldn't read CDs and took some compressed air to it. Viola! The spindle can move again, and I have a working system.
