SegaCD on PS2?
Wouldn't that be amazing? I'm surprised there's really been no way figured out for emulators on one console (in this example, a PS2) to actually run the original disc (not rom) from another system... be it a SegaCD disc or DC or what have you. Anyone ever hear about any research on this subject?
Re: SegaCD on PS2?
I would imagine the Sega CD being possible as there is no copy protection on those games. The DC would never be done as those discs are GD-ROMs, not CD/DVD-ROMs. The Sega Saturn isn't likely because the systems is difficult to emulate (unlus that Panzer Dragoon Sega Ages 2500 game is emualted, that could be a step forward for Saturn emulation).
The only reason that I can think of that you can't use legitimate Sega-CD discs in another console (assuming this hasn't been done before) is because no one was interested enough to programs the emulator to do that.

You can use legit Sega CD discs in one of the Xbox Genny emulators, if I remember correctly.

So in theory, you guys feel that it would be possible (at least as SCD in PS2) if someone could program the emulator to read the disc... too bad I know nothing about programming.

DC are GD discs, but dreamcast games do run on regular CD,GSZX1337 wrote:I would imagine the Sega CD being possible as there is no copy protection on those games. but the playstation 2 isnt powerful enough to emulate dreamcast, im sure it can run Sega CD, as ive run Sega CD on my PSP before pretty well.
There are 3 things I don't believe in, politics and math.

The Xbox uses Gens, right? IIRC, that can read the Sega CD discs.

claudio, PSP has a SCD emulator? I didnt know that. I'm surprised PGen for the PS2 has never been upgraded for SCD compatibility.
Re: SegaCD on PS2?
yes, well its a genny emulator/sega cd emulator in 1, you can put the iso in a iso folder, noiseredux wrote:claudio, PSP has a SCD emulator? I didnt know that. I'm surprised PGen for the PS2 has never been upgraded for SCD compatibility.
i only tried silpheed, it ran very well, not sure about all the other games you know how emulators run sometimes, but yes you can play sega cd on psp.
i also run neo geo on psp, its my favorite!! runs very well with 95% of the games, and you can run home/arcade consoles on it, with save features in the middle of game and even play wireless 2 player with another psp.

3DO on PS2 would be awesome, too. I dnt think I've ever heard about anybody even attempting a 3DO emulator.
