Can anyone help me once and for all?

Post by thejamessea »

Here's the situation. I have an Intel iMac, brand new. I want to play Curse of Monkey Island (the third game).

How can I play this damn game on my computer? Or on Wii. I don't even care. It's just that all the differing forum posts and whatnot are ridiculously confusing. Someone has to know how to do this.

Curse of Monkey Island is supported by ScummVM: http://www.scummvm.org/compatibility.php?details=comi

OS X is supported by ScummVM. It doesn't get any simpler than that.

Gotta love ScummVM.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was on the Wii as well....

That's about it. SCUMMVM is possibly the best thing ever. There's a Wii port out there, too.

I want to buy a cheap tablet PC just so I can load SCUMMVM onto it.

There is something i believe called dosbox
is free software that emulates dos and therefor runs all the dos games

the game ,
maybe you have to buy it and play it on this emulator
and maybe you can download it illegally and play it on it

am not sure, never tried it

Yes, it was ported about a year and a half ago:

I've been hoping for ages that there would be commercial support behind it. Bringing out some of those classic Lucas Arts "talky" games on Wii would be fantastic.

But as usual it's up to the homebrew community to do it, and the rest of us to be labelled "pirates". *sigh*

I was reading that ScummVM doesn't support Curse of Monkey Island because of some missing file that's only found on the disc? I don't have the disc, so that is my big problem I guess.

Not sure I follow. The Scummvm site says that it's compatible. Where'd you read that? Unless you mean that you don't have the game data? SCUMMVM's just an emulator--it still needs game data to run the games.

Yeah, I don't have the game data (disc or files) and I'm not sure where to get them.

Ahhh, I see.

In that case, you're going to have to find a place to either a) Buy them. Ebay. half.com, and Amazon'd be your best bet there. Or b) find someplace to download them illicitly from the internets. I suggest digging around on bittorrent sites, I'm sure that it's not hard to find.
