Hey, i recently got my NES from a friend and it was working fine for him (he tested it before he gave it to me) but i cannot make it work.. All it does is blink, the power light blinks and theres a white screen which flashes on and off.
I have cleaned the cartridges using the proper method
and after that didnt work i took apart the system and fixed the 72 pin connector
but it still wont stop blinking, does anybody have any ideas to help me??
it would be GREATLY appreciated!

Tried replacing the 72 pin connector? I know I tried to "fix" mine and completely f'ed it.
New 72pin went in and it works like new!

replace the 72 pin connector. Also, slowly put the cart in. Do not force it. Put it just far enough to touch the connector, then push down, so the outer wall pushes it in. This is the only way you can make it work sometimes.

i managed to fix it!!
i scrubbed it really hard with some metholated spirits on a toothbrush and have now found out that it will only connect if i dont have the game pushed down... so i put it in but rather than pushing down with the spring, i just leave it up and it connects.

i dont see how its bad for the machine, its not getting in the way of anything... the door still closes i just dont have the game pushed down... although i new one would be good, i dont have the money at the moment =(

I dont see a reason for concern either. Ive heard about Nes working without pushing down the game.

If anything it's probably better for the system, as that bending action of pushing it down and popping it back up is what causes the connector to slowly go bad.

I want a NES so bad now I have a SNES but the ribbon cable that connects the motherboard to the game pad interface is completely twisted to death so the system works fine but no input -_-
do you think I should try and solder some wires across or do you think I may brake it more :s
