I just received a modchip for the Saturn. After a little trial and error, I have been able to get it to work. But this comes at a price. See, I found out that the contacts on the modchip don't really touch the contacts on the mainboard. Thus, I applied a bit of pressure (via electrical tape) to the modchip to get the contacts to touch each other. Yeah, this works, but seeing as this chip seems kinda flimsy, I'm concerned it's going to break if I keep it under this kind of strain. Should I ask about getting a new chip?
Thanks,
MR

Re: Slight problem with Saturn Model 2 mod
Good to hear someone had the same problem (and ingeniously, the same fix) as I did with mine.
I don't know how much pressure yours needs (mine works with the chip at a 15-20 angle inboard,) but I got my chip about 2-3 years ago and it still works like a champ. I find the biggest problem was getting the tape set so it didn't spring back after a few days.

Re: Slight problem with Saturn Model 2 mod
Thanks for the advice. I tried a few angles. I think I need about 10 degrees. I also added a layer of scotch tape onto the the opposite side of the contacts (for the chip), so it's a bit thicker. So you think it might come off in a few days? The thought had crossed my mind. Alright, I'll see what I can do. Thanks for telling me this thing won't flex or bend much. Like I said, it feels really flimsy.
Edit: Hang on a second, inboard? I'm pushing mine outboard. I suppose it does nearly the same thing... either way, the contacts move closer together...

Yeah, scotch tape and masking tape work alright for reinforcing the chip. It might come loose once or twice, but once you get something that works you shouldn't ever have to touch it. I haven't had to open mine since I got everything set, and that had to be 2 years ago or so.
