Did Sega screw up AGAIN!?

Post by Gamerforlife »

I take video game reviews with a grain of salt, but it still is disconcerting seeing the scores the new Golden Axe has gotten. Can't Sega do anything right these days? I wonder how that Sonic game will turn out

did you really expect this game to be any good?
I know I didn't. From when they first announced this it looked awful.

Yeah, I know. I was hoping though. The two Golden Axe arcade games are so cool. Great legacy destroyed.

i think madworld will kick ass. i mean its obviously inspired by sin city and evil dead, and those things kick ass. sega was once able to kick ass, so heres hoping. but you never know, if it sucks, that'll be the dissapointment of the year because i'm so stoked about it.

Yeah, this Golden Axe looked awful from the start. It would be awesome if Sega would start making consoles again, and they should team up with SNK to make the most awesome console EVER.

P.S Madworld looks like it has promise, haven't seen enough gameplay to be sure though.

Every new gameplay vid I see of Madworld makes me think that this game is what Manhunt 2 SHOULD have been. The most recent "AWESOME!" moment I saw was a sequence where you press a guy's face against a passing subway train. Right now it looks like the only thing that can screw up Madworld would be to screw up the controls.

i've never played manhunt, but from what i know, madworld and manhunt seem like they should be 2 completely different things, well maybe at least as far as style goes.

There's really only been 2 good Golden Axe games. If you look at the series their success ratio is something like 1:8. 1 good game to every 8 released.

Sega's getting good once again. That game was developed by Secret Level under supervision by Sega. If they're not good at developing games then there's not much Sega can do.

If you want to see the quality coming out of Sega these days then look to Yakuza Kenzan, Yakuza 3, and Valkyria Chronicles.

Also, they've got a lot of promising DS titles coming out in the near future. Just my opinion.

Maybe if sega hadn ditched the selectable characters then it would have at least resembled the original a little more and in this time of uber powerful female characters beeing able to play as the dwarf again would have been a spark of originality. Instead from the looks of things sega based the design of golden axe perhaps bit too much on the marketing department. And went for the obvious

sexy female lead = MOAR MONEY

It's pretty much guaranteed to be awesome as SEGA are only the publisher - Platinum Games (aka Clover Studio of Okami, God Hand & Viewtiful Joe fame) are developing it.
